Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

OK, that's my good deed for the day!

Just back from Formby having reorganised and restocked the charity shop after Mrs J deconstructed it.

You wouldn't believe the number of Sisan Boyle , Alfie Boe , Michelle Buble and Il Divo CDs that we have!!

Anyway time for some tea and toast and hopefully watch Forest beat Arsenal.

@Sassy Colombian great to have you back.
That's because they're all crap mate.

Not a great draw for us in the fourth round:(
We're at home. That's the best you can hope for from the 4th round onwards Gwladys.

We're not going to win it anyway whilst Benitez persists with 5 at the back. Hopefully he will see the light. I actually think we have a strong first 14/15 when everyone is fit. I have high hopes for our new right back, young Gordon is coming on leaps and bounds, and Gomes, if used as an impact player is another big plus, Depends whether you know who starts playing a back 4 and midfield 3. I'm still hoping he comes to his senses sooner rather than later.

Not a great draw for us in the fourth round:(
Yeah. Could have done without it being a PL team. However it's at home so fingers crossed.
Girls if we can't beat Brentford at home in the Cup we might as well give up.

Don't get me wrong Brentford are a good team and have done brilliantly but all you can ask.for in the cup is a home draw and avoid any of the top 6.

That's what happens when you try and do a Zatty.
?
Perhaps, but at times there is no way around it especially when you have been as productive with your posts. So here goes my first answers to several post. I'm still pages away to catch up with everything but I'm afraid this post will become too long if I continue.
Looking forward to trying them again
lol
unfortunately my heads been excruciatingly bad, not quite a migraine but not far off, I've got a piercing pain on the right side over my head, terrible night it was. Haven't had a headache like this for a few months, forgot how bad it can get. It is all coming from a trigger point in my shoulder, I feel like my shoulder is in a vulcan death grip
lol
not that I know Dr Spok of course
lol
Terrain, have you ever consider getting acupuncture to help you manage your pain?

Morning all. Cold here as well, faint glow in the sky as the sun comes up. Going to my aunt’s funeral today. Those who have read the depression thread will know why she was so special to me so I won’t repeat it here. Have a good day everyone.
Thanks Fred. A good service and afterwards lots of laughter and fond memories of a lovely lady, who despite being only 4’ 11” was larger than life. Her favourite expletive being “Oh sh*t and pollution!”
?
. RIP Aunt Eva.

Sounds like your aunt had a lovely funeral and a nice remembrance. While it is hard to say goodbye to our loved ones, it is those larger-than-life memories about aunt Ava that will keep you going when you miss her the most. xx

Morning my lovelies. Very cold here. The temperature gauge on my car is broken so it is 12 degrees out. When I took his lordship to work at 6.30 my car said it was -15C. Made me laugh anyway! After a very pleasant day off yesterday which also included a solo trip to the gym to do some cardio, I've come back into work to discover 9 new referrals from my boss and a letter with 32 documents attached. That should keep me quiet for a while!

Big weekend ahead for us. Son is bringing his girlfriend to meet us. He met her parents, from Essex, West Ham fans, between Christmas and New Year. Given that in his whole life he has never even mentioned a woman, this is huge! I'm surprisingly nervous about it. House is sparkling already, we are going for a meal on Friday, they are going out with daughter and her boyfriend on Saturday. I'll probably cook a nice dinner on Sunday before they leave.
Can't wait to catch up with the rest of this thread and read how things are going for you this weekend, Ange. Wishing everything had gone smoothly with the visit with your son's girlfriend, how exciting for him to have found love.

Really sorry mate. I feel so helpless as there's nothing I can say or do to ease your pain. Sounds like most of your medication is cocaine based too so you need to be careful with the volume you take.

I know it sounds a bit extreme, not to mention a touch illegal, but have you tried the wacky stuff?. No need to answer mate, and by no means is it a recommendation as I'm probably the last person qualified to do so. I'm just putting it out there as I know a person who does use it for pain relief and it works for him. Maybe put it past your doctor off the record and see what he says. You may be able to get something in tablet form, I'm not sure.
Fred, Now you are going to have to clarify for me what is it that you consider the wacky stuff?

I do self medicate*cough* Fred yes, it's the only thing that works but I can't always afford it. If it was available medically like it is in America, I've got the kind of condition that would qualify for it but we are so far behind with laws as usual.

Luckily I don't have the kind of disposition that gets addicted to things so I've never had a problem with the meds.
It is unfortunate the in the UK medical marihuana has not been legalized because cannabis it is much better form of pain treatment than the addictive narcotics that are currently being used in traditional medicine for pain. Not sure the legality of CBD in your area but If you ever want me to send you some gummies or oil that can help ease pain and sleep, I will be happy to do so just PM your mailing address.

And how are you @Barnfred 55 ? What are you up to today beside boasting about the clement weather ? Do you ever use coconut milk in your curries ?
I do
I use it to make a Southern Indian meat ball curry and I love to make it but the wife won't let me do it as often as i would like .We do indeed get mussels here and they cost about 5€ a kilo they come in on a Thursday which suits us -shopping day - and we have them the same night ,we have them different ways but not Thai ,we went to Kamala Bay in Phuket ( Kamala means terrible in Finnish ) and the hotel we were at had a 500 yard shopping and food market right outside and she has been put off for life with the constant smell ,me it didn't bother but she is the boss .One recipe she makes is done in the oven with Parmesan cheese on top but normally it is moules marinieres which is fine by me .
The Keralan curry I will put on Sassy's recipe page ,I am sure any meat would do but it asks for half pork and half beef mince for the meatballs .
We have wonderful fish here and we also eat perch and pike that Brits for some reason don't appreciate .
What's a Keralan curry?

I do if I'm making a Thai curry. I buy jars of the curry paste (either red or green) and use a couple of spoonfuls of that, add the coconut milk, then a stick of lemon grass bruised, some kaffir lime leaves, palm sugar, sliced fresh red or green chillies, Thai fish sauce and I also add a touch of soy sauce to give the curry a bit more colouring and extra saltiness. If it's a green curry I also add some green beans and fresh coriander leaves. It's nice with chicken (that I normally fry off first) and some sticky jasmine rice. It's a very wet curry (mainly due to the coconut milk) so I normally put the rice in a soup bowl, and pour the curry on top and eat with a spoon. It's absolutely delicious. You've reminded me that I haven't made one for a while.

Not sure whether you get mussels over there in Finland Blue, but you probably know that in Cornwall we have some of the best in the world. When I eat out I often go for the mussels and my favourite is when it is done in a Thai sauce. The combination is just sublime and a lot of that is down to the coconut milk.

Sorry. You only asked if I ever use coconut milk and I've given you chapter and verse. At least it's another recipe for Sassy to try out.
lol
Your Thai curry is very similar than mine expect for some of the seasoning. I absolutely love mussels too, Fred. So if Cornwall has some of the best in the world, then that gives me an extra reason to visit England’s rugged southwestern tip one day when we get to do our road trip in Europe.

I think we're not taken by fresh water fish for some reason. Trout is probably the only one and tbh I'm not keen myself.
In Asheville which is located in the mountain we don't have the fortune to get fresh seafood like you do but we get a local rainbow trout that's super delicious. I encrusted with pecans, butter, and rosemary then bake it for 10-12 minutes served it with green beans and couscous for a quick and tasty meal.

I'm partial to a bit of trout , it's the pout I don't like
It is the pout that I love the most, I try to take after it ;) lol

Where do you live mate?

Bank holiday here in Spain. Can't complain about the weather in Alicante. 15 degrees C at the moment and even with a bit of a cold wind it's perfectly manageable. Clear blue skies help.

Stay safe and warm everyone.
Lucky you. Is that the coldest it gets in Alicante during the winter?
They do appreciate it Jazzy, but as I keep telling them, they looked after me for long enough.
Working tomorrow and Saturday but look more on my job these days as more therapeutic and less of a chore.
LT, that's exactly what I tell my mom when she complaints that she doesn't want to put the burden on us as she gets old. I feel this is the time to give back to our parents after the nourishing care that they provided for us growing up. You are indeed a good son but your parents must have been good parents to you as well if you feel the desire to give back to them in this way. I'm sure your children will do the same and will be there for you too.

Good morning all on this super day ,I hope all are well , refreshed and have a great day today .I have told my wife too much about here so she wants to say hello :-
IMG_20220106_142005.jpg
Lovely! Please give her my greetings too @blue1948

Told her but she says it is her favourite colour.
So it is mine! Just because we have a blue heart doesn't mean that we can't wear our favorite color even if red is despised by many. One must stand its ground when it comes to fashion, not everything is about football
:D

Oh my I am in a good mood
Just wanted to share that
Have a cracking day all
I hope your good mood has continued along with some good health. x

Seeing that picture of Karl , really sad such a young man but he was a fighter till the end
RIP mate xx
The same happened to me this morning, it has gotten me very melancholic.
What a handsome ginger our Karl was too.
What's made me so angry Jazz is the way he is using the press to create bad feelings towards the player, and at the same time try and make himself look good. And haven't the press just lapped it up. It's everywhere now that Digne has said he wants to leave. And loads of our fans will be so gullible they'll lap it up too.
That has always been one of Benitez strategies. It is always the players at fault but never him.

Exactly - he has big chums in the press and our fans are , as you say , gullible - just witness the discussions on the main forum.

Benitez is very skilled at this - I wish his coaching was as effective.
Exactly, he is excellent at it but that's a good as it gets.
Staying away from the main forum mate. As soon as you put your head above the parapet in some quarters you're done for.

Plus I'm scared of going off topic. I like to try and lighten the mood sometimes and there's just zero tolerance in that regard. Better off in here.
;)
We know from experience lol

Add to this that Benitez has also considerably reduced any fee we will get for Digne by stating that he wants to leave.

No concern for the well being of the club at all, all about his ego and self image.
Just like he did for James, that's why he is in Qatar now.

No @Sassy Colombian so far today. She must be up to something , scared to ask what !
I have been scaring germs with my whips so you got nothing to fear my friend.

We should get a charra and pay Blue a surprise visit!
Love it. Mascoteers on tour. That Coach Trip TV show would have nothing on us.
Can our Mascoteer tour begin in Finland and end somewhere warm? :) If I had won the lottery on Wednesday that's exactly what I would have done for ourselves, would had purchased tickets for everyone to go on a Holiday and meet Jazzy and Mrs. J in the Caribbean. Instead that night I was caring for the hubby and totally forgotten to purchase my tickets and of course someone won over half billion that night and it wasn't me :(

Good lord woman, you are a master at multi-quoting on here!

Today's the day Mascot will make his final journey. Today's the day I say see you again one day. Today is the day I remember the great times we had together. Today is the day I knew was coming. Today is the day none of us wanted. Today is the day I want to say thank you to all on this here thread for being there when Mascot needed you guys. Most will never know what you guys meant to him, but I'll make sure I tell everyone what this group meant to him. Thank you for being there whenever he needed you. X
?

Thanks @Reedy1979 for making us part of Karl's funeral and tribute on Friday. I'm sorry I'm just answering back but I have been very sick and just today I can manage to come to GOT. It is not easy to acknowledge that Karl has finally been set to rest and accept the reality that he really is gone. But the lessons he taught us during the short time we got to know him will always live with us. He was a very special person and I hope he knew how much he meant to us too.

That must have taken ages!

Keralan Curry. Kerala is a region of Southern India. Very very beautiful, I've been 3 times. The further south you go in India the hotter / spicier the curry.

Kerala curry is gorgeous , usually with Kingfish.

I have been away for a few days and I still have 17 pages to catch up after an hour of reading. So you’ll be reading a lot of multi quoting coming up, Im going to make Zat look like a neophyte lol
Afternoon all. That lovely, relaxed Chrimbo period seems so long ago now, I feel like I’ve lost the thread of this, well, thread now.

Been straight back into the old routine, which I’m not sad about as I’m back at the gym and getting some peace and quiet from my little angels so less stress and working off those Chrimbo KGs.

Anyway, got lamb shoulder roasting in the oven and a cobbler ready to chuck in once dinner is served. Also prepping lunches for the week for me and the wife. Kids are at their nanny’s so getting what I can done but making sure to have 5 mins sit down here and there.

Hope life is good for everyone else in here (and every other thread; I don’t discriminate!).

Get well soon @Sassy Colombian and Señor Sassy, whatever your ailments.
I'm cooking that strange taste chicken dish tonight Brett, so I'll pop over to the Sassy thread now and do the recipe. If I have time I'll do my Chinese fried rice recipe too.

The chicken is marinating and I've cooked the rice which is probably the hardest part to get right. I'm happy to say it is cooked to perfection ;)
