Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Sorry, I'm a bit late to this. I'm originally from Eastham on the Wirral. My scouse mum was a Blue, born in Everton, as was my nan, so I was always going to be one too. Early on in school, you were either blue or red, but I didn't really follow Everton properly until the 1970/71 when I was 8/9.

I've always had a great affinity for the city of Liverpool and it's people. As a kid I spent a lot of time in Liverpool and my grandparents lived in Huyton. We used to take the 41 bus from Eastham to Birkenhead, then take the ferry across the Mersey, which I loved.

Aged 13, in 1975, the family moved to Warrington in Cheshire, which used to be in Lancashire and always felt more like a Lancashire town. Found the accent a bit weird to start with. They pronounced chippy as chipper.

I moved to London in 1985 for work and lived in various areas from north, south and east London, before moving a bit further out to Kent in 1998, where I've been ever since. Got married in 1999. Have a 19 year old son and 16 year old daughter. My daughter has zero interest in footy, but my son is a Blue, despite living his whole life here, so that's now at least four generations of Evertonians in the family.
Will you ever be able to make it up to him ? Lovely to hear .

If anyone has grand children around 8 upwards ,here is book that we have read many times and is brilliant .It is by a Dutch writer and about gnomes ,every word is true !.It is only meant for kids who have access to the countryside and it contains so much about nature that they can learn at the same time as having a fun read .
We have it in Finnish and I bought it for my grandkids in English but I suspect there will be many optionsScreenshot 2022-01-12 at 15.21.34.webp

You have goats? I love goats! Not quite the same but I still miss our two sheep that we had to rehome last year when the owner of the field next door that the sheep had 'accidentally" broken into turned up and wanted them out. Had never been seen for the whole 5 years we had the sheep.
Yep we have 2 sheep , 2 pygmy goats 1 cockrell ( he only has one leg poor thing ) and 10 chickens as well as a cat and 2 dogs

Happy birthday Anj. I'm a gentleman and won't ask how old you are, but I believe you'd be around the same age as Cal who would have been 61 on Saturday. :) .

It's actually my eldest sisters birthday today who is 76. And one of my other sisters is 64 on Friday. Lot's of Capricorns about it seems, Is that why you like Goats? lol .

I once looked up the traits of Capricorn, as Cal was one, and one of the listed weaknesses is they are renowned for being a "know it all". Maybe I should have been a Capricorn Jazz. ;)
Well surprisingly enough I'm capricorn Fred lol

I blame my grandfather (known as Pop) for making me into a Blue. My parents and all my 3 elder brothers were reds. The first games I went to see were at Anfield in the Keegan and Toshack era, as my red brother tried to convert me.

But I stuck to my guns and wouldn't have it any other way, despite all their success.

Well surprisingly enough I'm capricorn Fred lol
Well that comes as no surprise Jazz. lol When's your birthday, or have you already had it and not told us?

When are you flying out for your cruise mate. ? You'll have to sign up to the internet package onboard so you can keep us updated with some photos of fabulous beaches etc (now that you know what to do). I assume you are visiting Antigua. I heartily recommend the catamaran trip there. It is fantastic fun. I think we've done it 4 times we enjoy it so much.

I was very miffed to discover that Durham Council only give you bus passes when you reach state pension age. Was looking forward to a few trips out last year. I'll have to wait until I'm 66! I love public transport for all the wrong reasons. I love earwigging all the conversations and listening to the bus stop gossip. Travelling to King's X from Durham for union meetings was always fun in that respect.
I'll be thinking about you on Saturday. These "firsts" must be so hard for you From your fond reminisces of her, Cal sounds like a fabulous person and someone I could have easily been friends with.
I often wonder why things turn out the way they do. I know it's fate but sometimes I think what if.

I mean, the two of you are both Liverpool girls born 3 days apart. You went to schools practically around the corner from each other and Cal probably had to pass close to your school walking home to the Dingle every day. You probably went to the same bars, restaurants and night clubs. I wonder how many times your paths crossed, but you never actually knew each other.

Sorry, just being a bit philosophical. ;)

Perhaps, but at times there is no way around it especially when you have been as productive with your posts. So here goes my first answers to several post. I'm still pages away to catch up with everything but I'm afraid this post will become too long if I continue.

Terrain, have you ever consider getting acupuncture to help you manage your pain?

Sounds like your aunt had a lovely funeral and a nice remembrance. While it is hard to say goodbye to our loved ones, it is those larger-than-life memories about aunt Ava that will keep you going when you miss her the most. xx

Can't wait to catch up with the rest of this thread and read how things are going for you this weekend, Ange. Wishing everything had gone smoothly with the visit with your son's girlfriend, how exciting for him to have found love.

Fred, Now you are going to have to clarify for me what is it that you consider the wacky stuff?

It is unfortunate the in the UK medical marihuana has not been legalized because cannabis it is much better form of pain treatment than the addictive narcotics that are currently being used in traditional medicine for pain. Not sure the legality of CBD in your area but If you ever want me to send you some gummies or oil that can help ease pain and sleep, I will be happy to do so just PM your mailing address.

I do

What's a Keralan curry?

Your Thai curry is very similar than mine expect for some of the seasoning. I absolutely love mussels too, Fred. So if Cornwall has some of the best in the world, then that gives me an extra reason to visit England’s rugged southwestern tip one day when we get to do our road trip in Europe.

In Asheville which is located in the mountain we don't have the fortune to get fresh seafood like you do but we get a local rainbow trout that's super delicious. I encrusted with pecans, butter, and rosemary then bake it for 10-12 minutes served it with green beans and couscous for a quick and tasty meal.

It is the pout that I love the most, I try to take after it ;) lol

Lucky you. Is that the coldest it gets in Alicante during the winter?

LT, that's exactly what I tell my mom when she complaints that she doesn't want to put the burden on us as she gets old. I feel this is the time to give back to our parents after the nourishing care that they provided for us growing up. You are indeed a good son but your parents must have been good parents to you as well if you feel the desire to give back to them in this way. I'm sure your children will do the same and will be there for you too.

Lovely! Please give her my greetings too @blue1948

So it is mine! Just because we have a blue heart doesn't mean that we can't wear our favorite color even if red is despised by many. One must stand its ground when it comes to fashion, not everything is about football
:D

I hope your good mood has continued along with some good health. x

The same happened to me this morning, it has gotten me very melancholic.
What a handsome ginger our Karl was too.

That has always been one of Benitez strategies. It is always the players at fault but never him.

Exactly, he is excellent at it but that's a good as it gets.

We know from experience lol

Just like he did for James, that's why he is in Qatar now.

I have been scaring germs with my whips so you got nothing to fear my friend.

Can our Mascoteer tour begin in Finland and end somewhere warm? :) If I had won the lottery on Wednesday that's exactly what I would have done for ourselves, would had purchased tickets for everyone to go on a Holiday and meet Jazzy and Mrs. J in the Caribbean. Instead that night I was caring for the hubby and totally forgotten to purchase my tickets and of course someone won over half billion that night and it wasn't me :(
Trying to do a bit of a thread catch up here. I could have just read your post Sass :)

Couldn't agree more. Life is very strange at times. I would put money on me and Cal having crossed paths at some point in our lives.

Fingers crossed that we dodge covid for another 10 days and we fly Friday week.

Got my cousin and his partner coming up from Plymouth to look after mum and all the animals!

Can't remember if we do Antigua this time , I know we've been at least twice before. I will just be relieved to get on the plane there are so many hurdles to jump.

Birthday was 22 December and @Sassy Colombian marked it very kindly with my own birthday thread.
