Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

After today’s depressing defeat (I really thought we were finally going to have a win) I needed something to cheer me up and enjoying the beauty of a winter hike was just perfect. We first took a drive up the mountains to check out how the snow was looking up there and it looked like a winter wonderland. For the hike we went to the local arboretum, with 474 acres of forest there is plenty to explore and it is always gorgeous. We got to meet my daughter’s best friend and her dad so it was nice seeing some friends too. These girls have been best friends since they were 3 years old and now they are looking so grown up. They got matching heart necklaces for Christmas that say: weirdo 1 and weirdo 2 ?

What a beautiful place. Without divulging personal details, where is this? New England? Looks like you all had a good time.

Thanks, mate. It is a lovely area of the southeastern US. We live in Asheville, a small town in the mountains of North Carolina. The state still is very conservative but our city is very progressive, lots of artist and musicians live in this area, outdoor lovers too. Besides our natural beauty, the time is well known for our craft beers. We have an average of 28.1 breweries per 100,000 residents ?

Ever thought of running for Mayor? ;)

Good morning all on this sad aftermath ,what a place we are in with no real manager and the window shutting when we are screaming out for midfield improvement .
The BBQ went great although it took much longer to cook the meat ,we have a cut of pork here that translates to gammon but it is not salted so I ma not sure what to call it ,it comes from the neck/front of the back area and it is my favourite meat on the BBQ as it has some fat inside which keeps the meat moist. We had it with red peppers and tomatoes on the grill and austrian style potatoes which are served cold .
I hope all have a great day and we get some relief next match .COYB

Quite a stressful time at the minute, work is crazy busy but next week is ‘leave’ but gotta do my reading.

Need work done at the house and I find that makes me anxious. It shouldn’t but it does as I babble to the workers and am so on edge. Stupid but it’s me and gotta roll with it.

Major positive, my lad is now double negative in his Covid tests and his request for a chippy tea was an easy win ??
Really pleased about your Dad. I know exactly what you mean about having workers in. I always feel really awkward and never know whether to talk to them, ignore them, feed them or what. I think it might be down to having strangers in your house.

Great news about your boy. I’m exactly the same with workers in the house, I don’t want them to think I’m standoffish by not talking to them but at the same time they might want to just get on with the work and cut the cacklelol. Same with offering tea/coffee never know when or how often.

After a run of bright frosty mornings today is cloudy and grey. I heard a blackbird singing just as it got daylight, the first of the season. We have one which sits on a lamppost outside our house singing, I like to think it’s our reward for all the food we put out, hope the birds appreciate it - it’s getting blummin expensivelol. Great pics @Sassy Colombian, really love seeing the photos everyone keeps sharing. Have a great day, all.

Dear @Armaghtoffee that’s great news about your son but I’m sorry to read that you are feeling stressed at the moment. Do you have any techniques to help you de-stress? Working out and breathing exercises help me a lot when I’m feeling stressed. But meditation, mindfulness, journaling and getting creative are also good ways to lower your stress level. Hopefully you can find a technique to help you manage it until things slow down ??
Was just having a moan after another horrible Everton day. Plenty of fresh air and some music while I walk will do just the trick.

Looks like we are all the same ?. I just like my house to be mine, no pressure to make conversation with strangers and all that. I thought I would sound dead odd saying that but looks like I’m not on my own ?

Good morning all. How is everyone after yesterday? I feel like I used to when a night out that you were really looking forward to has not lived up to the expectations. Everything is a bit flat. So trying to find positives: much more effort and commitment, their goal was very good, on a different day some of the second half chances we had would have gone in. If they continue to play with that much commitment we will get a win soon.

I think I'll have a look if there are any tickets for the Newcastle match. Might have to sit with a load of Geordies but me and Mr F (NUFC fan) could make a night of it. Tea in the Toon, go to the match. Might be fun. One of us will be disappointed though.
