Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

After today’s depressing defeat (I really thought we were finally going to have a win) I needed something to cheer me up and enjoying the beauty of a winter hike was just perfect. We first took a drive up the mountains to check out how the snow was looking up there and it looked like a winter wonderland. For the hike we went to the local arboretum, with 474 acres of forest there is plenty to explore and it is always gorgeous. We got to meet my daughter’s best friend and her dad so it was nice seeing some friends too. These girls have been best friends since they were 3 years old and now they are looking so grown up. They got matching heart necklaces for Christmas that say: weirdo 1 and weirdo 2 ?

Day four of detox today (my last day on Merseyside was a dry one) and just the thought of having a drink makes me shudder. So from experience i know it will take another 2/3 days at least. Entirely self inflicted so no complaints. So many of my friends up there don't get hangovers but I'm not sure I envy them if I'm totally honest. It certainly helps me regulate my alcohol intake as I don't want to suffer the next day.

I notice it's been fairly quiet on here the last couple of days. Can it just be coincidence that Jazzy has gone on his hols? Hmmmm. :coffee:

Yesterdays loss left me a little bit flat, but I can't seem to get worked up about them lately. Maybe that will come back with time. The most disappointing thing yesterday was seeing the starting line up and system, and the loss was almost expected after that.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy what's left of the weekend and your moods aren't too dampened by yesterday's game. Unlike some, i do believe we have a fair bit of quality in our squad and if we can get them playing a system that suits us and have a bit more luck with injuries, then we'll start to climb the table again. We need to start soon though because at the moment we're staring relegation in the face,

Good morning, friends. Like some of you, I am feeling a bit deflated this morning. I keep thinking how ironic it was that Digne set up that corner for that goal. Our Digne is now a foe, thanks to Benitez :( Then that episode with the bottle and coins just made some of our fans look pathetic and hateful, hopefully it won't be too costly for Everton with penalties from the League either. Anyway, I still think we could have done better because we did have some chances, we just didn't have the luck. And @jazzy and @Barnfred 55 you were right about the lineup, Ferguson made some mistakes there by leaving Gordon out, but he tried to correct it during the second half it just wasn't our day.

@larbert toffee I hope that even with the loss your grandson still had a great time.

This morning is a another cold one at -6 but it is suppose to warm up to about 10 degrees so we are planning on going to my mom's to visit her and her husband, and just like @blue1948 we will be having a winter BBQ. Then I'm really hopeful tomorrow our weekly routine will return to normal, my daughter school was on remote learning most of last week so I am really looking forward for her to get back, so I can also concentrate on doing my work.

I hope @anjelikaferrett @Methuselah family members dealing with illness continue improving, and those dealing with constant pain such @Terrarian are not encountering too much of it today.

@Barnfred 55 glad you are back home and that you are keeping up with your detox. This is our third weekend being completely dry and while I do miss having a cocktail, sometimes it is good to give the body some rest from alcohol.

I also agree with you that we have quality on the squad, we just need to a good system that fits their characteristics. I know Ferguson didn't get it completely right this weekend but maybe this coming weekend he will readjust his game plan with a more fitting one to win.

@jazzy we are already missing you but I'm sure you are having a lovely time with Mrs. J so continue enjoying yourselves.

Cheers. Xx

After a run of bright frosty mornings today is cloudy and grey. I heard a blackbird singing just as it got daylight, the first of the season. We have one which sits on a lamppost outside our house singing, I like to think it’s our reward for all the food we put out, hope the birds appreciate it - it’s getting blummin expensivelol. Great pics @Sassy Colombian, really love seeing the photos everyone keeps sharing. Have a great day, all.

Thanks, ladies. It was a beautiful hike.

@Gwladysover I concur with you that it is lovely seeing everyone pics.

Hello everyone,

That was deflating yesterday, wasn't it? Thought we were in trouble when I saw the line up. We need three bodies in central midfield, as we don't have the legs there, especially if Gomes plays. Dunc also picked Holgate, who's been seriously out of form for a long time and whose distribution is woeful. Kenny is woeful full stop. Branthwaite played really well against Chelsea and has always impressed me, so I'd have started him. Gordon has been one of our better players recently, but was dropped, and he was far and away our best player when he came on.

It puzzles me that neither Benitez nor someone with Dunc's coaching experience can see things which are obvious to us fans.

On paper, our squad should have enough to stay up, but footy is often about momentum, and when you go on a bad run it can be difficult to change it. We need to turn it around quickly because we have some tough games in April and May.

Thank you for those fine comments.... My first game was 1961 when dad took me and bro Paul..... Fulham we won 1-0...Jimmy Gabriel scored.
First game on my own was during the cup run of 66 and I got my first s/t for the 67/68 season.
Where did that go?
Some fine memories, others not so good.
I am keeping positive about myself and EFC... ?
John
Lovely stuff mate.

So you would have seen the Golden Vision play and had a season ticket for the 69/70 title winning season? What great memories for you.

Keep on being positive and take care.
Paul

I’m currently making travel plans to go to Goodison to watch a game in the Alex Young lounge funnily enough !
Can’t wait for it now Benitez has gone.

Unfortunately they've driven him to drive him to drink already.

Good morning on the first day of what is hopefully a better week for all,I hope everyone slept well and has a great day .
It is a bit slower in here as @Barnfred 55 says but it is mostly down to the fact that @Sassy Colombian has reduced her input .Of course we all a bit down with the team situation but we will have worse times in our lives . Stay the course blues and chin up that man! COYB .
