Morning All, I'm feeling a lot better today thanks Jazzy, Mrs a few days behind, still a bit groggy but still within the bounds of flu like symptoms rather than anything serious.Morning everyone.
I hope that you are all well and that @larbert toffee and Mrs L T are making a good recovery from covid.
We wake to terrible , terrible news from Ukraine. We can pray that this ends quickly and with minimal bloodhed but I don't think that those prayers will be answered.
Chucking it down here so my distraction from events in Eastern Europe will have to come from the gym rather than the garden.
I hope that you all have a good day.
I wish ?That "consoling " has me worried for a man of your age !
Have you seen the film "Tinder Swindler" these people are professionals .As I’ve said in other threads at the time, I actually spoke to the scammers on an old fellas phone once.
I was pretending to be the old fella to buy some time for the police to get hold of them.
It’s remarkably common in retail for older people to come into shops and buy hundreds of pounds worth of Amazon or iTunes cards and give them to someone to ‘pay off a debt’.
That call I had was chilling but it was well worth it in the end.
I logged into his online bank and transferred his money to a secure account just before they got hold of it.
You wonder how people fall for stuff, but these guys are ruthless.
Very showery down here. Combination of beautiful sunshine, hail, squallish rain and high winds. Weather hasn't got a clue what to do, so it's just your normal day down here in Cornwall. Best weather forecast for tomorrow but as sod would have it my new washing machine is being delivered tomorrow sometime between 8am and 4pm. If it comes early I'll deffo be out on the cliffs as I've been climbing the walls a bit the last week or so.Hi T , hope everything is OK with you.
Raining here but snow forecast even on lower ground as we are.
Might be heading your way too.
Get that walk in with Daisy whilst you can.
Lovely weather forecast for the weekend
Europe and the US used to have strong rulers.Good morning all on this fearful day ,what makes a person like Putin tick ? We might be lucky in Finland that he hasn't taken a fancy to us and that we are far from Ukraine but I pity the people living there .As if Covid wasn't enough and now China backing him is really worrying ,he has to have a big d**k contest every so often and it seems he escalates ,he has a mental problem . We can all just wait and hope and wish the Ukranians good luck .
Sadly I cannot see diplomatic sanctions doing anything especially in the short term.
For all the benefits we have today we still have crazy rulers .
Not been active on here for over a month.@Harryflashman havent seen you on in a while. Hope all is well and we see you again soon mate.
I think the way they will go is full out financial sanctions. But that is likely to hit the West hard too, especially with fuel prices. Also, this will likely back him into a corner and who knows how he'll react when that happens. He must be completely irrational otherwise he wouldn't have gone into Ukraine.Good morning all on this fearful day ,what makes a person like Putin tick ? No signs other than indignation from the Finnish prime minister yet ,we are not very far 400 km from St Petersburg .I think the way they will go is full out financial sanctions. I agree that China is also a concern as they'll have their eye on Taiwan. Scary times. Have you raised the alert level on your border with Russia Blue, or are the Finnish government trying to downplay things? How close are you to the Russian border?
You're so lovely and kind xMorning all. Grey and drizzly here this morning. Just had a phone call from my neighbour, the one who was scammed the other day. She is worrying now that her replacement card hasn’t turned up yet, and she won’t have access to any cash, which she doesn’t need at the moment anyway. Have just spent 15 minutes trying to reassure her that it is on its way and may turn up today, if she gets desperate for cash I’ll sub her. If only these people could see the distress they cause but then again they have no heart so why would they care?. Hope everyone has a good day.
I always keep them talking for as long as I can. I usually start the conversation with "will I need my bank card?" I keep going for as long as possible, ask loads of questions and then lay into them for being such horrible awful people. I have absolutely no regret doing it. I went through a phase of getting loads - some saying they were from Amazon Prime, some saying there was fraudulent activity on my National Insurance number in wales and one saying that there was a warrant out for my arrest for tax fraud. That was a fun one. I asked which Court had provided the warrant, what Grade was the person I was speaking to and then told them I worked for the Government and they were talking rubbish ( except I wasn't that polite) I did ask one why he did it and he actually replied "you always get your money back, you don't lose anything."As I’ve said in other threads at the time, I actually spoke to the scammers on an old fellas phone once.
