Yep , loved them at the time but then I was into the Clash , Pistols , Sham 69 , Stranglers etc at the time.Didn't realise you were a Boomtown Rats fan Jazz. lol
The question you asked me about The Boss I could easily throw back at you about Bob Marley Anj. Reggae music was such an influential part of the music scene in the late 70s and early 80s. Not just the traditional Caribbean sound but the UK scene with the Police, UB40 and the two tone label groups. Some of the most iconic songs from the period were reggae based and, in my opinion, Bob Marley was at the heart of that. Absolutely love the base line in his songs.I loved the Jamaicans attitude to Bob. We had a Bob Marley quiz in our hotel one afternoon. You would have had to be related to him to have known some of the answers! The first thing they ever asked was "Do you like Bob?" My truthful answer wouls have been "Not really" But tha t would have hurt their feelings so much I took the easy option and said "Oh yeah great"
She's still struggling a bit with flu symptoms and tiredness but slowly moving in the right direction.Great that you are feeling better LT , how is Mrs LT?

You should tell him to send his dog down here Gwladys. I've got tons of the stuff in my back garden. lolSon’s cavalier is constantly making himself ill, he’ll eat anything including cat poo. Apparently dogs go for it because ii tastes of fish which they find irresistible.
Oh please. Far too much information. lolDaisy eats bird poo and used to eat dog poo when younger, she isn't allowed to lick my face lol
Totally correct. The reggae beat in the Police is unmistakable. The question you asked me about The Boss I could easily throw back at you about Bob Marley Anj. That period from 76 to 84 was the best is my opinion. And I loved most genres. Punk, new wave, reggae, new romance, even disco. I never really took to what was termed stadium rock though, which was strange because I was brought up on rock music and still love listening to the likes of Zeppelin, Floyd, Yes, Genesis, Purple, Hawkwind, Thin Lizzy etc.Yep , loved them at the time but then I was into the Clash , Pistols , Sham 69 , Stranglers etc at the time.
Oh you thought I meant Mr Marley and the Wailers.
Good point but I've never been into it. There are some songs that are amazing (Buffalo Soldiers being one) which I do like but the genre as a whole never appealed. I did go and see the Police once - the Synchronicity Tour, last one they did until they got together again years later. It was so obvious that they hated each other. I was much more into the electronic stuff in the 80s, OMD, Erasure, Human League, Ultravox, Flock of Seagulls, Queen, Bowie or the big hair soft rock bands. In the 70s I would say The Clash, Sex Pistols, Boomtown Rats, still Bowie in any of his personas - once I grew out of Glam Rock ? ? ( still love The Sweet). Like you with Bruce, I'm not anti reggae, it just doesn't do it for me.The question you asked me about The Boss I could easily throw back at you about Bob Marley Anj. Signing Off by UB40 is one of my favourite ever albums. If you haven't already heard the track "King" I'd recommend you google it. They wrote some fantastic songs, you wonder why they did so many covers. laziness maybe.Totally correct. The reggae beat in the Police is unmistakable.
One of my favourite lesser known singles was "Mirror in the Bathroom" by the Beat.
Big UB 40 fan. Seen them a couple of time Rat in the kitchen , superb.Signing Off by UB40 is one of my favourite ever albums. If you haven't already heard the track "King" I'd recommend you google it. They wrote some fantastic songs, you wonder why they did so many covers. laziness maybe.
