Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

So , finished my gardening for the weekend. I was reshaping a border in my front garden, including moving a large Acer and Osmanthos which had become intertwined with a large Magnolia Grandiflora. Despite living in the countryside the front garden runs alongside a main road so don't really enjoy working there.
I've added a couple of photos. View attachment 157436View attachment 157437
Hell of garden you have there mate. Good job you enjoy gardening.

Did you ever get over The Bay City Rollers splitting up Anj? lol

Loved the electronic sound by the way. Goes back to my teenage years when I loved Tangerine Dream, and then got into Kraftwerk. But I remember seeing Tubeway Army on the Old Grey Whistle test and was blown away. Went out and bought Replicas the next day.
I suspect our musical collections ( ignoring my jazz ) would look very similar.
Did you also like Yes , Wakeman Oldfield and Camel.
Pheadra or Ricocet your favourite TD album?

It was tough but I managed it ? ?

That's just a small bit at the front. We have a couple of acres at the back of which all bar 1/4 acre for animals is landscaped. I will take some photos of the back when the weather allows next week but it looks much better in spring so will try to find some from last year. It's like the Forth Road Bridge being painted , never finished we always tweak it.

Here's another of the front which I've just taken. I only added the border last year so needs years of maturity.20220227_170648.webp

Ricocet definitely. I saw them live at the Liverpool Anglican cathedral in the mid 70s. Probably one of the best concerts I ever went to. The acoustics and atmospheric ambience were spellbinding.

Yes were probably my favourite group back in the day but I think I probably prefer Genesis now. Of all the instruments I probably enjoy bass playing the most, and Chris Squire is definitely my favourite exponent of that art. I used to own the first 3 Rick Wakeman albums and still have Journey and King Arthur on one of my I players today. I owned Tubular Bells (who didn't) but Camel seemed to pass me by somehow. One of their tracks was a theme tune to a TV programme a couple of years back and I thought it was brilliant, so i looked them up. They were definitely the sort of band I would have been into back in the day.

I zoomed in on the concrete post/ trellis fence in pic 2 as we‘re 3/4 through replacing the old wooden trellis fence/ wooden posts with concrete posts and lattice type panels. I showed your pic to Mrs. blueloon, concrete posts are unheard of in this part of the world. Nice garden by the way, daffodils in bloom in February are also unheard of here ?

We have a hectare - 2.5 acres. I don't mow about an acre as a gesture to habitat and sustainability. Rewarded by gorgeous wildflowers.

The rest is regularly mown and has fruit trees.

I tried that last year in part of our back garden but the area just ended up a mess. I must have done something wrong. We were anxious to encourage wildlife too
