Had a strange situation last night.

Although my team's table tennis league season finished a week or so ago - with us as champions - some of our lower division teams still have outstanding matches and I like to support them when I can.

So. last night I toddled off to Waterloo ( North Liverpool near between Crosby and Bootle Sassy and other non Scousers ) .

Very tight game with some long and close matches. One of our players , very experienced and in his late 60's, was playing well but after the 1st game was blowing for tugs and looking terrible.

He insisted on continuing to play despite my protestations . Fortunately there was a GP playing for the opposition and he gave him a quick examination and insisted that he go straight to hospital. After a few hours in A and E he was diagnosed with a congenital heart problem , very similar to Christian Ericksen . Bloody hell what a bullet that was dodged.

Gorgeous weather here today so I've just moved 3 tons of chip bark as a mulch / weed suppressant . I'm knackered and very much looking forward to a beer and Mrs J's veggie biryani.

Have a lovely day tout le monde.

Did I miss a post of you mentioning your team finished as champions? Regardless, congrats for such accomplishment, but I’m sorry to hear about your mate’s health issues last night, I bet it was worrying. However how fortunate of him that a GP was at the game last night and urged him to go to the hospital. Hopefully he will be able to get his condition treated and will be able to play again ??

Enjoy your beer and Mrs J's veggie biryani. I actually had to googled what sort of dish it was as I had not heard of it before, but it sounds yummy.

Wow, how fortunate that there was a medic on hand to advise him.
I love biryiani. I've been a bit slack with my veggie cooking lately. I'll have to get back into the one day a week routine. I've dsicovered that vegetarian food is very tasty so there is no excxuse at all not to incorporate into our diet.

Good afternoon friends. It's a blustery day today. Been to get some Euros this morning for our trip. Need to fill some forms in tomorrow that will show the Spanish authorities that we are both Covid jabbed. We have also finally decided to travel overnight on Monday to Manchester Airport. Our flight leaves at 7.10 on Tuesday morning so the plan is to go to bed super early on Monday and get up at about 1 am and go to Manchester. That will give us plenty of time to get there and even have the obligatory airport pint somewhere between 4.30 and 5am- assuming the bar is open!

My poor son has tested positive for COVID. He works for HMRC who have insisted they all go back in the office for 3 days a week. No social distancing, full capacity. He's only been in for 2 days and has caught it. he said it's gone wild in their office - over 40 people have caught it on his floor. It genuinely infuriates me that this is the Government putting their employees at risk just to pretend everything is back to normal and so their hedge fund mates don't miss out on corporate property rates. Anyway rant over.

I had a quick read of the home page article about Everton books. If you are of a similar vintage to me then Looking For The Toffees is a brilliant read. The guy who wrote it is the film critic for the Daily Mail, hails from Southport and it is a real labour of love.

Have a lovely day folks. Me and Mr F are home alone - daughter out with her boyfriend so we are vegging out watching a mixture of Soccer Saturday and horse racing. (Mr F's favourite)
Ange, I’m sorry to hear about your son catching Covid, hopefully his symptoms will be mild and he will able to recover quickly.

Enjoy your time alone with Mr. F, the hubby and I are definitely making the most of ours ?

I totally agree, there is lots of delicious vegetarian food. I also need to do a better job adding more recipes to my weekly menu.

@Barnfred 55 I've been meaning to ask you. Have you had any luck with getting a refund on your cruise?
No Anj. Not heard back yet. My cruise club did warn me not to expect a quick response. I think I was due to pay a small balance due in the cruise this coming week so I have to cancel it before then otherwise I will be liable to pay an extra amount. So expect to hear from my agents whether P&O have got back to them or not.

Good afternoon friends. Feeling a bit rough this morning as the hubby and I party last night as it was 1999 ? I'm so glad that after all these years together we still enjoy each other's company and still love dancing together even if it is not longer at a night club. I'm trying to gather some energy this morning to go to the gym and later today the hubby and I are going on an bicycle adventure. We have been wanting to explore a bike park that’s located an hour from Asheville at another town, then we are going to visit a brewery near by that has a rooftop bar and a great view of the Tennessee mountains.

I hope everyone has a beautiful Saturday and let’s all continue praying for world peace and a good outcome with this situation in Ukraine. Xxx
You deserve a party after a successful first week in a new job. It’s always a stressful time but you seem to have landed on your feet.

Hopefully your son feels better soon.

No surprise that this government will make a statement by pushing their own employees back into work in unsafe conditions. Terrible in what is supposed to be the new era of hybrid working.
