Hmm, I think he looked much better with Holgate next to him - someone with some legs to help make up for his lack there of.

Really is last chance saloon for the boy though, poor this season and he's gone.

It also helped that we were camped further back, mate - that suits Keane. In fact if we play that style I'm relatively happy for him to be in the team as he's good in that situation.

But if we're playing a high line he should be nowhere near starting.

I thought Keane, one dire clearance apart, was really good yesterday.

the second goal had a list of people at fault ....
Coleman
RW cover
Keane
Baines

our leprechaun goalie should have stopped the free kick but he is flavour of the month.

Jags got crucified.

Haters gonna hate etcetera

if Keane continues like he played yesterday, he will keep his place in the first XI
I want every player who pulls on the shirt to succeed.Keane has been poor for a long time now .I'm not a great believer in stats but his aren't flattering. You can blame players for not stopping crosses and other defenders for not covering etc.But to let a forward jump unchallenged to head a goal that costs us points...

It's not good to have a player on the pitch who can only play in one kind of situation though. Games change over 90 minutes.

The lad had a good game yesterday. Looked the player we all hoped he'd be when we signed him.

That being said we did sit deeper. The issue is going to be if he can produce better performances when we have to play higher up the pitch. I have my doubts on that. He did look better with a quicker player next to him (Holgate) and all the other cb's so that may be the answer?

We’ll likely never see him outside of injuries and suspensions after a few weeks.

Well yeh, there's that as well.

I do like Keane and want him to do well. There's a player in there somewhere. Hope he improves.

Anyone got a balanced view of how he performed yesterday? I didn't watch, but from the 2nd goal, it looked like he just was out of position and not athletic enough, and didn't time his jump, plus he didn't track that defender?
I hope that long term we use Holgate and Mina, and that Zouma and Keane are cover this season.

Sadly until he gains positional awareness he will always be a liability. He has some great attributes, but teams know how to exploit his weaknesses.
He needs to work on these weaknesses and sort them out, I guess the concern is can he sort them out

was defo caught out for their 2nd goal. should of read the cross a lot better AND already be tight to his man.

he ended up heading fresh air and leaving his man for an easy finish

If he had been tight to the goal scorer then the other player in the box would have been on for an even simpler through ball and probable goal?
And would have been slated for not being tight to him.
Lose lose for Keane.

He was left to mark two players.

Apparently Keane played well for the majority of the game but when it comes down to what really matters when you watch that equaliser and see how much time he has to get in position to mark the striker and he just ball watches and lets him go behind him.

Just more evidence of why we needed to get those 2 CB's in deadline day. when all our 5 CB's are fit both Keane and Jagielka won't make the matchday squad. Holgate will be competing with Zouma & Mina.

Split them,as in leave one totally unmarked to score? Who on earth coached you?

Split them, as in split them.

I suppose you’ve played centre back at a high level then. I mean I only played at high level amateur leagues, university first team level & was coached by actual coaches with fa accreditation.

Maybe I did it wrong for 20 years...

I played as a pro,so we'll have to just disagree.one player pealed off towards the back post. Keane was left marking nobody as the ball sailed over his head....is that in the FA coaching manual?
