You joke but I don't think I've seen Keane's past struggles put down to a lack of intelligence or laziness so make of it what you will. I don't want to do this right now though.
As for the other part I still say he's out best center back until proven otherwise. Maybe it was temporary but we sure as hell should try to make sure.

What should we do, let his contract run down so a player becomes worth next to nothing and we have to spend big to replace him? we wasted £27m 2 years ago on Mina as a possible upgrade, if we let Keane run down we would have to do the same and waste more money while we have areas that are far more important. Look at Arsenal and the problems they have caused letting contracts run down, its not a reward for Keane but Everton protecting an asset

Think the club has a very bad habit of handing out new contracts to players after a few half decent games, doing it now, done it with pickford, done it with DCL.
It's why we are constantly stuck with a big squad and find it hard to shift a lot of players.

only reason he has a new contract is because we failed to sign zouma last season, we failed to sign gabriel this season, we don't appear to be linked with any other defenders except tomori on loan, we are short on options
