So when I see Keane, I am impressed. He is very solid, not mistake prone, able to play the long ball, score goals. Solid solid CB.

Things to keep in mind is that there are very few stand out CBs nowadays. It's become a position of a lot of "solid" guys but few real elite guys. So I think we have a good group of 4. Not worse than the other clubs we compete have.

I'm happy with Keane and our defense.

In a way you are, but in another way it's a shame you didn't catch one of the bad seasons so you can truly appreciate the difference that has occured lately.
Would give some insight into why Everton fans are wary about believing this will continue anyway :)

But yeah everyone in the squad are playing to their max currently and it's beautiful.
 
Some of his passing out from the back has been quality, the ball back over the top to James before Richy's header off the post and the ball he zipped into James right before DCL's goal against Liverpool.

Mad how I would have happily seen him go in the summer, very few in the league I'd trade him with now.

It's a bit like when a tail ender smashes a few at the end of the innings. They often come straight back out and bowl a brilliant spell with the new ball.

Best English defender in the league so far this season and long may it continue.

It's a cricket analogy and probably not a very good one.

A bowler's main job is to get people out, but often when they bat well, they take the confidence into their bowling.

Keane's primary job is to defend, but I think the confidence of scoring goals at the other end is helping him do his defensive job better.

Played excellent today. Remained calm throughout. Only player that did well today. I’m shocked I find myself saying this; but the armband looked good on him.
