I agree about rotation not suiting him, he simply has to start every game

...I seem to recall you being critical of Keane during his poor spells (apologies if you’ve always been an admirer). Whilst I accept he’s been terrific, I‘m not a fan of his & would certainly go with Mina & Godfrey as first choice. Saying that, I’d also have Keane over Holgate.

Some players are never forgiven for anything and others are never blamed for anything

Keane fits into the former

....not sure what that statement means.

i understand the club work hard on Keane’s mental fragility and he’s been terrific this season, but i fear the introduction of Godfrey and rotation of CBs won’t suit Keane’s mindset, it’s just my opinion. In respect of your post, I’m happy to forgive the lad but I’m not sure what I’m forgiving him for.

No, to be fair, I'm a Keane super fan, it was Mina I was critical of, but, I think the pair of them have an understanding now.
That's why I think we need to stick with them and Lucas and Godfrey as full back.
4 3 1 2 I'm hoping we can use from here onwards

What I mean Eggs is that no matter what Keane ever does that he is only a mistake away from being castigated whereas others can make repeated mistakes and they are overlooked.
Michael Keane has been outstanding this season and for the second half of last season, by far our most consistent player over that length of time.
But , it is suggested that he be sold and replaced.
In my opinion that is like saying we should sell DCL because he has done so well.

You keep your best players, if we are lucky enough to get into Europe next season they will all be needed.

BTW, I wasn't being critical of you as I think you are a fair and balanced poster.

...they’re all only a mistake from being castigated, we saw that at half-time against United when Rodriguez was lambasted and went from hero to zero. It’s a passionate game & folk let feelings run away because they care.

Regarding Keane, I’ve often voted for him as MoM in the last 12 months or so but he’s simply not the type of CB I personally prefer. He’s clearly a nice lad, but i prefer the attitude and skill set of Mina and Godfrey.

As for selling Keane, I am of a view that a club move their most sellable assets on when their stock is high ‘if the manager thinks he has better options available’. I think the coaches also think a lot of young Branthwaite, he’s got pace to go with size and could be formidable next season.

Look at the state of Maguire on our third goal, criminal if Southgate picks him ahead of Stones and Keane.

...Stones looks rejuvenated, actually thought in the two games v United at Goodison, Maguire handled DCL as well as anybody. As for Keane, I think Southgate might favour Mings and the Wolves lad ahead of him, which I fully understand.

Keane has improved alot this season under Carlos tenure but he does get bullied occasionally in games. As a partnership I think we are less prone to pace with Godfrey and I think Godfrey feels more confident with Mina. That been said if we are defending the box and playing deeper, counter attacking Keane and Mina is possibly a better option. 1 cap doesn't fit all occasions. All 3 players have been solid to be fair.
