You don't win 12 caps for England if you are a bad player. Simple as.

He does have a mistake in him, but so do John Stones and Harry Maguire. So does Coady (as we have seen), Mings, Guehi etc etc..

The speed at which the game is played now means centre backs will always end up exposed or making a mistake at some point.

We just need to back the ones that show some character to come back from a mistake and he has actually done that on more than one occasion.

So let's back him.
Carlton Palmer won 18 caps mert, and he was beyond awful

He is much better then Maguire

Howard Kendall didn't get one England cap. Phill Neville won 59 caps. Who's the better player? Your argument is weak.

Not getting into an argument over why Howard Kendall never got an England cap. Also not going to debate whether Phil Neville managed to 'scam' a career that saw him win 5 Premier League titles, 3 FA Cups and a Champions League and be in the top 50 all time cap winners for England.

Neither of those debates are relevant to the point I made which is you cannot be a bad player if you represent an elite level country multiple times.

There may be better players in the eyes of some that get overlooked - that doesn't make them bad players either - particularly if they are effective for their clubs...

It's 100% relevant, you said he must be good if he played for England, I showed you that that measurement is clearly not a smart one. By your definition, Phil Neville is a good player, and certainly better than Keane.
