2022/23 Michael Keane

So you can’t tell me which Coady mistakes cost us points. Ok then, that’s fine.

He's made loads of mistakes - Villa example being one. The derby shocker at Anfield another. He's a poor defender.

But this is the Michael Keane thread - and the point I made was since coming back into the side, in my opinion he's not made a mistake that has cost us a point.

The criticism is way OTT.

People making out like Keane is relegating us.

To those people I'd just remind them that Coady was playing, and Keane hadn't played a single minute here;

As people have already pointed out, a lot of those games were under the worst manager in the league who didn’t play a midfield and not necessarily as a result of defensive errors. The numbers since Dyche came in with and without Keane in the side speak for themselves. He is a huge, huge problem and has been since we signed him.

I think Godfrey and Holgate have been as much to blame in that time period as anyone.

But I can point out absolutely loads of Keane mistakes and you’ll just say “well they didn’t cost us points”. Why does it only matter when Keane’s mistakes cost us points but not Coady’s? Keane’s mistakes have cost us far more points than Coady’s two mistakes.

We haven’t moved anywhere in the table despite actually scoring more goals, because our defence is leaking more than it was previously.

What I wish to have that GD back again.

That's because he doesn't get close enough to the player to look like he's to blame. He's so far off the pace it looks like it's not his fault.

Dyche has us playing a lot higher up to compensate for an atrocious attack.

Early in the season there's no way we go to Leicester and play as much on the front foot.

Proving my point there mate how some are so desperate to attribute everything to him.

I'm not saying Michael Keane is good, I'm saying some are over attributing blame to him and I'm saying the potential replacements aren't the magic wand some seem to think they are.

All that said, I still think this;

Understood why he was put in after Coady was so bad.

Understand why Dyche wants continuity in his defence. (We broke a PL record for most amount of defence configurations last season).

But Coady or Mina need to come in now.

Issue is though, we are crap with them too. We were 19th without Keane playing a game when Dyche come in.

You can't possibly think that and then say this?

If neither of them are the answer why do they need to come in...

Because fans are on Keane's case so much the manager is having to defend him in press conferences.

He's red to a bull and it can't help the lads confidence.

"Issue is though, we are crap with them too. We were 19th without Keane playing a game when Dyche come in"

People making out that we'd be infinitely better if we replace Keane just ignore the fact we were pathetic before Keane come back in.
