Honest opinion Dave, he's thick as a player, can handle a system like Burnley which effectively has 11 players who defend as a team and all give full effort etc, soon as he was out that goldfish bowl, he's drowned.

Or in another way - think about this, is there a single thing he does well, pace, aggression, sticking to his man, positioning, tackling, heading, leading??? lol, passing, agility, or anything else you can think of.

Player whose benefited hugely from playing in a rigid system which makes defenders look good like Burnley, and who got the credit because he was a former United academy player when the rest where lower league fodder - so it was assumed he must have been the quality in there etc
He's got none of that at the minute. But we've all seen it many times that a player can look good under one system and then struggle badly under another and lose confidence and collapse.

This club has been a nightmare for any new CB to walk into. Two idiot managers on the bounce. I guarantee if Dyche had been installed here Keane would be performing very well.

If he could do "pace, aggression, sticking to his man, positioning, tackling, heading, leading??? lol, passing, agility, or anything else you can think of" by himself he would still be at United and we wouldn't be able to afford him even with all Moshiri's money. Play someone more suited to him along side him and he would look far better than he does now.

Mate i'm not saying he should have all that to his game, but far as i can see, he has absolutely none of any of this to his game.

More i see him the more i think Keane was shown for what he was when Lukaku sent him for the shopping when he turned him like a roulette wheel last season.

maybe he would have, can also say that he probably would have if moyes was given the job mate.

None of that means he's a good player, especially for someone like you who kinda wants us to be playing a bit more 'expansive' the lad can't pass, looks terrified on the ball, looks less agile than Jagielka ffs, and can't defend in space.

IF siggy was an overspend at 45m, then god knows what Keane classifies at with his cost...

I disagree. He's earned international recognition too.

I'm not saying he;s top class, but Jagielka was hopeless when he came here first and he was very decent on his day. I think he's salvageable. But he needs a confidence boost.
He played terribly last time out for England and almost scored an OG under no pressure.

I'm surprised you're giving Keane so much credit here, he's been atrocious and hasn't given a glimpse of ability in his time in a blue shirt

I dont think that precludes him being part of an Everton team that plays with more assurance from the back. A blend is necessary in the CD unit.

He's very young and should not be written off.

He hasn't played that often, and when he has its been with worse players. I don't think its a matter of giving him much credit, its just pointing out that until you put him in a defence that has been organized competently its impossible to assess how good he is.

I'm pleading for patience rather than championing him as a top class CB.

Look at what he did last season and look at his age, then look at who's managed him since he arrived

Correct.

You have identified a lot of his flaws since he has been with us, but almost all of them stem from a lack of confidence which stems from him knowing that if he messes up there is no-one behind him. If you played someone who could do that (and Holgate did it for Williams in that brief run we had when Allardyce first was imposed on us), I would be willing to bet that he would even more improved than Williams did because he would no longer be in two minds every time the ball came near him.
Possibly & to be honest I don’t want us to sign more than 3 players in the summer. We need a new manager to get the most out of what we have sign a left back centre half & centre mid.

If we need 4 centre half’s then it should
Be holgate & new signing with Keane & mori having to fight for a starting spot.

We have never really replaced the lescott jags partnership. distan was great bar the odd blooper but jags injuries started to take there toll As time went by & we have struggled ever since.

Dave he isn't that young, he's bloody 25 already mate

As bad as he played today, the manager should see the opposition tactics and change accordingly. Even Carragher saw the constant threat, and he’s clueless!
Williams should have been hooked early and Holgate put on. Williams just makes Keane play worse.

He doesn’t step up to play offside, he doesn’t cover quickly enough, and when Williams is tracking he doesn’t slide across to screen a pass and cut it out.

Not sure what he does except get bullied everywhere.
