2017/18 Michael Keane

Stubbs, Gough and Weir are all superior players to £30 million Keane.

Who scouts these players and then says yip pay crazy money?

Scouted with no idea of how he’d play for us as opposed to in a Burnley team. A Burnley team with Dyche basically playing 4-5-1 were the CB’s could happily just hoof it away and were provided with cover from their fullbacks and midfielders. A defensively compact and incredibly well drilled side, we could have signed Mee, Tarkovski or Keane and the result would have been the same. Not good enough.

I don’t think the people in charge of our recruitment would know quality if it smacked them in the face.

The fact Pennington has signed a new three year deal suggests even he is likely to get in the team ahead of Keane

Oh pray tell how you come to that conclusion when Keane has been a regular for the last 2 months and Pennington has been nowhere near a piss poor Leeds team.

Awful lot of revisionism in this thread

When we signed him, most were delighted - Coming off the back of an excellent season at Burnley, breaking into the international setup, young, confident, strong looking defender

He's been terrible this season - but he wasn't terrible previously

once Everton touches you,....

He gets turned to easily and lacks awareness what is around him.
Unsure
I am not sure if he will ever improve, and if he doesn't he will become a liability

This. United were favourites to sign him at one stage too. Got England caps on the back of a terrific season for Burnley where he looked a rock.

No getting away from the fact he’s been really disappointing here. Systems, not settling, confidence who knows what the problem has been but he’s definitely not the same player.

Maybe Burnley will take him back? If not, maybe a new manager might get the best out of him and he can recapture his Burnley form.

There was a reason united let him go

But as usual. Any outcasts from top six sides we jump at them and as usual the fail. We don’t learn. We won’t learn, and this will continue

Not sure about that when you factor in Lukaku or even Salah. Both outcasted as not good enough by Chelsea. And Look at Gerard Pique Utd to Barcelona. More recently Pogba he cost Utd silly money selling him buying him back.
