..just saw a clip of Lingard slipping past him in the home game against United. It epitomises why any forward would relish playing against him. I know the reason he was brought in but Steve Walsh has gone.
..we need defenders who can defend. We need defenders with athleticism and power to defend. We need defenders who can recover when forwards attack them. If they can ping a ball around it’s a plus.
It really is vital we have power and athleticism back there. Much more important than showboaters.

To be fair, hopefully Brands does a job because you can get good defenders for reasonable prices. But it's all about what you want, and the partnership.

I was of course being flippant. I take @Eggs point totally. You need players who can defend. But there's a balance. Mangala is an athlete first but lacks the nous football wise to be a good defender.
