Looking very bleak for him at the moment

Just goes to show, don't ski people. So many people get hurt doing something so pointless and stupid. You might as well rollerblade along a down escalator into a concrete pillar

I really want to learn to ski/snowboard mate!!

She won't come with me though because it's 'too cold'.

They done scans early on that showed he had suffered massive brain damage. As someone said above, if he does wake up it is 99.9999% he will be a vegetable.

So many people get hurt playing football, too.

A bit of good news:

Schumacher has 'conscious moments' - agent

F1 champion Michael Schumacher is showing "moments of consciousness" after months in a coma, his agent has said.

Sabine Kehm said in a statement to the media that he was "making progress", adding that they remain "confident".

Doctors in France have been working to bring the seven-time champion out of a medically induced coma.

The 45-year-old German suffered a severe head injury in a skiing accident in the French Alps on 29 December.

"We are on his side during his long and difficult fight, together with the team of the hospital in Grenoble," Ms Kehm said in the statement.

"We would like to thank you all for the continuous sympathies. At the same time we again ask for understanding that we do not intend to disclose details."

Investigators probing the accident said Schumacher had been going at the speed of "a very good skier" at the time of his crash in the resort of Meribel.

He had been skiing off-piste when he fell and hit a rock, investigators said.

Experts reconstructed events leading up to the crash after examining Schumacher's skiing equipment and viewing footage filmed on a camera attached to his helmet.

Schumacher retired from racing in 2012 after a 19-year career.

He won two titles with Benetton, in 1994 and 1995, before switching to Ferrari in 1996 and going on to win five straight titles from 2000.

Don't be daft! You have more chance of dying every time you get into a car than you do skiiing.

Fact is, there is an element of risk in everything you do.

Skiing is one of the greatest leisure pursuits known to man, sure there are risks, but with the right equipment and a sensible approach most of those risks are mitigated - ski whenever the opportunity presents itself!

Not a skier at all myself, but I suppose there's risks with everything.

We can't live in bubbles.

Skiing is without doubt by favourite sport to do.

Hate to say it but I am pretty sure that Michael would not want to just 'exist' in a vegatitive state and that everything that is now going on is because the medical teams have to do as much as they can to save a life (whatever state that life is in) and his family don't want to 'lose' him.

This is probably an excellent example of why euthanasia should be firmly on the discussion agenda.

Eh la?

Skiing is a great sport ya div!

Snowboarding is even better!

People get hurt doing all spots, he was just unlucky. Haven't people died playing football before? Perhaps nobody should play any more.
