Mick was a totally committed player , unfortunately like a number of players in the late 70,s in particular , King , Latch , Thomas , Dobson come to mind very unlucky to not win a trophy

This. My favourite Everton team of any era. Even more than the 1980s ones.

Mick for me represents all that's great about this club imo. Of course there was a famous gaelic football player, who played for Meath called Mick Lyons as well! I'm a day late, but happy belated birthday Mick.

I remember that game.

Imre Varadi and an O.G. (Avi Cohen?) for us, I think.

I think the first goal was given to Peter Eastoe, but it definitely looked like an OG.

Testing my memory here but I think I saw him play his debut. We lost 3-2 at Notts Forest.

Yeah Forest away, just before the Panathinaikos and FA semi-final disaster - Mick scored our second goal. It was on Match of the Day but the cameras failed with the score at 3-1 so Mick's goal wasn't recorded for posterity.

Yes he told a story about that he was in town in a club that night,and this fella came up to him and give him the thumbs up.Mick said mate give us a break and the fella said [no i am a blue i had you down as the first goal scorer]

True blue Everton hero, was great as a striker or centre half, I could be wrong but I am sure that he got on the bench for the full England side.
When he was playing you knew one of us was out there.

Yes, you are correct.
Mike was away and had played for the England under 23 team.
The following night, due to several injuries, he made the bench for the Full England team but sadly didnt get on
