People on here should be aware by now that my political leanings are left of centre. I've made that quite clear on other threads. I'm saying my piece on this and not debating a single issue I'm raising; as I know where it'll lead.
My view on this is that accepting thousands of asylum seekers/ refugees will cause more problems than it solves. There's already far more than enough disenfranchised British citizens as it stands. Adding to the numbers will cause more resentment, more stresses on finances, public services etc.
And, of course, they'll be the first ones 'offended'. We'll no doubt have to pander to their 'sensitivities' after taking them in. Their gratitude will not extend to having to accept the same rules as everyone else. I'm convinced of it. Thoroughly convinced.
One thing I've noticed though; the vast majority of these refugees/asylum seekers at the train station in Budapest (As well as everywhere else) are young men of military age.....
Take them in by all means. But once the crises are over and their countries are deemed safe, they're on the first planes back. Every man jack of them.
Best post of the thread if you ask me. And, coming from someone who declared their leftward leanings, to me it speaks volumes.
Very good observation about the vast majority of refugees/asylum seekers being young men of military age. I'd wager a hefty amount that, if it were possible to truly discern their countries of origin, the lion's share wouldn't be from where they claim to be from (usually Iraq, Syria, Eritrea or Afghanistan).
