Migrant Crisis

Does it make any difference where the refugees / migrants are processed ? Once processed they will all head to where they want to go anyway, the UK being protected somewhat from free movement as it is not a Schengen country.

Absolutely bang on the money. Best post on here, bar none.

Moral superiority!? Hahahaha! lollollol That's a corker, is that! You really should have your own comedy show. You could call it: "The western decadent infidel's happy hour" , or suchlike.

Let's not help, either militarily or humanitarian-wise & see who claims the moral superiority then, eh?

The west "Never really backs it up with genuine actions of assistance"? lollollol Oh, my aching sides. You could get a series commissioned.

As I've said - damned if we do - damned if we don't. There's no satisfying them - or you. I've seen enough on here now. I'm out.

Erm. Bye-ee..

I personally wouldnt allow any of them in.

Everton had to wait a week for a visa for a player that cost 9.5m.

And we wanna let in 0000s of people who cant even play football?

Nar, close the borders.

Yes, that would be a risk, although I'm sure most aren't.

Could they be kept in a safe but secure 'camp' until processed?

This is what the Hungarians have been trying to do, seemingly without financial support from other EU states and to an endless backdrop of completely uninformed criticism by the media - the highlight being a report slamming them for writing numbers on the arms of children in felt-tip.

That's what they don't want. The ones on the the train are even refusing food and water. Germany has made a right pigs ear of this.......

Don't go jumping to conclusions, oldie. I'm not right wing, in fact I don't think any particular political leaning does any good. I'll,leave it at that.

I still want you to state what you consider to be an acceptable number of people to be allowed to re-settle in the UK/EU.
what is your acceptable number and what is it based on? How will it change according to circumstances? How does our acceptable number reflect what others see as acceptable? What number of Britains should be allowed to migrate in the case of a conflict ot natural disaster here? Answer these and I will have a go at yours

the refugee's are protesting about not being allowed to go to germany and the uk whilst in hungary!

it has to better than the situations they were facing back home tho surely??
some conditions are just as bad in many ways. certainnly the conditions in Crete and Candia Towers in Liverpool were inhuman. many want to move on and can't because their passports are taken

seriously, you are all so desperate to make your points that you are arguing with things that haven't been said. The answer couldn't have been clearer. what event do you think will result in a million people on the move? think it would have to be something that means we have a lot more to worry about than whether Nigel Farage is wetting his pants

What a lot of people are concerned about NOW, is when we might need to take a strategic pause and have a stock-take on our capacity to absorb more. Some might argue that we've already reached that point.

Those same people would probably have had no objections to accepting the needy until the point is reached that they feel over-crowding and/or a drain on resources is taking its toll. For a great many people, they've reached that point. For genuine refugees fleeing death, destruction etc. there should always be some way we can accommodate them. But many people are saying that we can't blithely carry on accepting economic migrants.

I just want to know if there's a point when your own moral compass is re-calibrated.

The above isnt my over-riding concern in all of this - I'm only trying to stimulate the debate through what I'm hearing and being told by people I live, work and socialise with. My main concern is keeping tabs on who is coming out of those conflict zones, and trying to keep some semblance of tabs on them. I firmly believe we should pro use refuge for genuine cases, but we should be doing so in conjunction with as much control as possible for everyone's sake - including those who are hoping to find safety from said bad guys.
