Arteta and Moyes...the one all fancy footwork and scoring goals, combined with a pragmatic and disciplined defensive approach...

Do it Marcel...

The same people who appointed, Koeman Allardyce and Silva...Ok then...
Regardless , you are still championing the appointment of someone with no managerial experience at all, you are relying on blind faith and hope. It’s akin to selecting a horse on which to place a bet by sticking a pin in the paper.

I dont believe what Duncan Castles has said anyway tbh but even if the rumour was true it would be a definite no for me. Has never managed a club in his life and assisting someone as good as pep is not even close to being able to do it solo. Type of appointment that could take you down.

I am look forward to seeing Silva replaced as soon as possible but it has to be someone who could be better, not someone who is not even a manager.

I've heard that if Marco gets the chop then it's Dunc as Temporary Manager until they get their man and they are hoping they are .............

Actually not. The Pin would be if Arteta was managing in Slovenia, and we had no idea of the strength of the league.

Mikel Arteta is the second in command to one of the best Managers in world football. He is a multiple Premier League winner, and is plying his trade in the most competitive league in the world (not the best, most competitive). It's a calculated gamble.

Compare that to Silva whose last two teams before Everton were relegated (can't remember their name) and is 20th (Watford) in the PL.

So you are saying that appointing Silva was forward thinking/ a more considered and logical approach from the custodians of Everton F.C.

Appointing Silva was more of a pin sticking exercise in my opinion.

I'd take Arteta. He's simply no more of a risk than embarrassing ourselves over managers like Silva.

That said it's gonna end up being Eddie Howe or something if it all does come off

I don't think Arteta is cut out to be a manager.

I hope when we get a new manager that sweeping changes are made to the coaching staff. A lot of them have been there for many years under multiple coaches. Even if they are great and we don't realise it I think it is overdue time for a fresh outlook.

We should maybe steer clear of people who 'know' the club.

You can't have 2 coaches, especially Moyes as a defensive coach.
To do that job properly you have to put the emphasis on defence to the detriment of the attacking ethos (big Moyes failing back in the day)
Arteta...or anybody, nominally being in charge, won't have Moyes, or anybody, getting a bigger share of the managerial say so.
All that will happen is both will end up doing a half arsed job to the detrimemt of the team as a whole

I'm a little concerned about how working under Guardiola at City may equip Arteta for the challenges he would face here. Pep has a very particular way of playing that asks very searching questions of his players. At Barca, Bayern and now City he's been working with the very best and even they have been pushed to the limit.
Would those methods neccesarily translate? Would they need to be adapted and if so, would Arteta have the skills or experience to do so?

I think he'd need to be paired with a very experienced number two. Someone who has been there and can give options if the Pep method doesn't translate straight away, or indeed at all.

Much as I would like to see Arteta sweep in and transform our fortunes with innovative coaching and tactics I feel we are beyond that. We appear to have a bunch of players who are nearly good enough to be challenging at top end of the league but who massively underperform.
Looking at Silva and his team's their appears to be little discipline, little belief and little fight. We need an interim manager to come in and I instill those things in the players. A new manager may well be able to bring in a few new players but he is going to have to rely on the bulk of what he has got and I would be concerned that Arteta, with no first hand experience could impose such a regime.
The Moyes/Arteta pairing may just suit everyone, Moyes could crack the whip and steady the ship, he could finish on a high and Arteta could find his feet. It couldn't go on for too long, wouldn't want Arteta learning too many bad habits from Moyes.
