Arteta has been trained up ever since he joined them. He is the succession plan.
No he isn't, they have taken on Van Bronckhorst in the background (he is there now and has been for a while) and he is there working with Pep and doing stuff with their American club with a view to coming back and taking over from Pep, Arteta would stay on as no2

Its nothing like our U23s.

Its an actual real league where they play against real teams.
With no buying or selling of players and no possibility of promotion with a team entirely comprised of players contracted to the parent club. There's quite a lot of similarities, not identical but not as far removed as you would like to propose.

By that logic Paddy Vieira was next in line for the job at one point. Arteta has always been the #1 choice to take over from Pep, thats from people I know at City.

Whether Arteta will be there still by the time Pep moves on is another question.

Well he hasnt been in charge of transfers at any club hes managed so no real difference there.

But the fact is he didnt just go straight to Barca, he had a years trial at U23 level or whatever you want to call it, its still more than nothing.

No. This 'jobs for the boys' thing needs to stop.

Even though he's a well respected and deemed by all in football as a talented coach? Bob on with likes of Unsworth and Ferguson who appear to have been gifted jobs a long with Osman being an ambassador. However not sure Arteta would fall into that category.

My biggest concern would be whether he has the character to lead and manage. Would also be concerned that if he came in and tried to get us playing like City (a team in which peak Arteta would have fit into perfectly) we'd fall like a lead baloon since we're crap at possession.

Just have to wait and see then

Thing those saying no, who do they think we are getting? Were not getting Jose as he would be here right now if so, were just not going to attract a top manager, we really wont, there is a reason why we have been getting managers from Watford, Wigan and Southampton

A manager who has proven he can do more with less. Someone who employs the tactics, motivation and pragmatism to punch above his weight.

Chris Wilder or Eddie Howe would be my choice of current PL manager, but I wouldn't mind looking to Germany for a manager. I do not want anymore new wave lightweight Iberians. Way too soft for this league.

A manager who has a bit more on his CV than laying the cones out for Pep, We can attract decent names not elite level but below, A chancer as you call them.
Where they may have won foreign league or cups and have had a bit of buzz about them and want to make the step up. Who that manager is? I don't know I don't know the names of all these hip young managers who are making waves but they're certainly about.

as did Zidane with Real Madrid Castilla, managing a team full of boys against men in the league. Definitely more than nothing.
