This I can relate to, I have to change ours soon and I know those stupid fixings they come with are gonna be a pain in the arse to get off, and then lining it up so it doesn't slam down as well.

This stupid toilet has no room to get your hand around the back to remove the nut, and when I managed to get a photo of it, it was a metal one, completely corroded. Ended up having to snap the old seat off and remove the fitting with a hacksaw. Bonkers.

I understand that it's a minor difference, and it doesn't bug me when people use them interchangeably in conversation, or people who are not trained communicators use them interchangeably.
But it gets on my tits when a journalist uses something that is obviously and clearly a simile and then refers to it as a metaphor.

TBF pal, first responders aren't necessarily employed by the Emergency Services. There are in some areas, community first responders, who are trained first aiders who can secure a patient till the arrival of the proper people. They will at times have a contact device on them that will alert them if something is in their area.
