Hug a Mets fan today.
Honestly, this contract deferral wasn’t that bad. They used the money to sign Mike Hampton who led us to the World Series in 2000. When he left in free agency, the Mets got a compensatory pick and selected David Wright!
Bruce Sutter’s deferred contract with the Braves was far, far worse.

Paul Skenes is not just good—he’s nasty. He’ll get figured out at some point and the season is long and he’ll probably Sabo the second half, but if not he’s a legit candidate to double Cy Young and ROY.
I watched the game Friday night and was really impressed. He clearly didn’t have his best stuff but still put together a very good performance. Happened to go to the game yesterday at PNC Park. Probably my favorite ballpark:
