MLB 2023

100%.

The fact that the A’s payroll in 2024 is lower, in real dollars, than it was in 2004 is absolutely inexcusable. Really hoping this whole thing falls through and they’re able to stay in the Bay Area long-term.

It’s a great fanbase with so much history. Worth noting that when the Giants were having trouble finding a location to replace Candlestick Park, the A’s ownership at the time gifted the Giants Santa Clara County territorial rights for $0.

This.

Vegas does not want the A's, not that they'll admit it.

They didn't want them on Broadway (or whatever the road is called), they wanted them out the way and they've been far from helpful.

The owner is a massive bell.

He's does to the A's basically what Liverpool did to Anfield, run it down so it's down to the bones, no one wants it and farm it off when it's beyond repair.

They made the OCo an eyesore, they've destroyed Oakland Baseball.

Vegas and baseball don't go. Simple as.

And the Twins are up for sale, thank god we’ll finally be rid of the Pohlads. A total nepotistic nightmare where the team ended up with people who didn’t even want to run it.

So it’s LA for the Mets. Want them to get to the Series obviously, but this is gonna be a hard week. If it comes down to 7 games and they’ve given everything, I won’t be bummed. I wasn’t even expecting this before the season or even up to the end of May.

Wish I was there; I've got a 4-0 record at Dodger Stadium watching the Mets. 😩

Mets clinch at game 5 in Citi

Got a soft spot for Cleveland. I know they’re no longer the Indians, but watching the Major League films in my youth was a massive reason for this fan from a far falling in love with the game. Please beat the Yankees!!

During the 1990s, I endured a period of illness and was unable to sleep. Luckily, baseball was broadcast on Channel five in those days late at night and I got absolutely hooked, having never given baseball a second thought previously.

I likened it to cricket in a sense - the tension between batter and bowler as it were, though not as spectacular as in cricket.

In those days Cleveland had a great side with people like Jim Thome and Omar Vizquel to name but two. They made the World Series against Florida Marlins and I was transfixed. They should have won the trophy really but little things went against them and they failed. I've always watched out for their fortunes since.

Back in 2001, I went to a couple games at Jacobs Field. Great experience—one ended with a three-run walkoff homer from Jim Thome. Cleveland’s SP that day was a young Bartolo Colon!

Also they have one of my favorite radio announcers— Tom Hamilton

Bartolo was a character! Thome could really hit them.
Another favourite was Manny Ramirez.
Baseball is unlike our football in terms of loyalty. Players get booed for not doing well.
They are well paid though, and frankly they don't have to put in as much effort as our footballers or even cricketers.
Some of them have quite big stomachs.
