Modern parenting

There’s so many social media accounts giving all this mad information and guidance but there is a lack of understanding that parents have to watch their mental health and well-being as well otherwise it can all go bad.

People need to know it’s ok to not do things the way everyone thinks they should be done and to not beat yourself up because of it.
Spot on mate.

Those accounts are like being lectured by attention seeking idiots. Because that’s exactly what it is.

And mistakes happen. No one is perfect. No one can be. To have someone tell you that would be far more useful than being made to feel inadequate by the Instagram posers.

As a parent you will make mistakes and thats fine.

Honestly think people live in a different reality. Even my most affluent mates are 2 working parents with young kids in daycare. Fair play if you can work out a way to do this otherwise.

The age of the obedient housewife, with an household able to survive from 1 wage ended years ago.

A lot pay out what they earn in childcare, once you factor in travel costs on top. Obviously there are reasons for continuing to work. They don't want their careers put on hold as they'll lose chance of promotion/personal relationships. Affordability for mortgages renewals is another, but funnily enough this is only a reason because of the change in 2 parent working families that forced up the prices to begin with.

It also doesn't help that the boomer generation grandparents are out on holiday/doing what they want etc. more than the ones in their time. Controversial I know, without this support it appears women cannot or do not want to handle the responsibilities come with being the homemaker/primary carer, so they work to get out the house.

A lack of a support circles for women is a very British and American thing. Places such as south America, the middle east and India, have huge support networks when they have a kid. Mums, aunties etc move in and the mum pretty much has to do nothing for a long time apart from keeping the baby alive

It's the same with central europe to a certain extent too, but in the UK and the US it's seen as a sign of weakness for some reason, when it's clearly not
