2019/20 Moise Kean

For what it's worth I think that Kean will be ok for us. That's if Silva does not offload him first. Lookman.....Dowell and JJ Kenny(loan) spring to mind.
Maybe a change of manager will work wonders for Kean. A change of manager might just work wonders for everyone.
And maybe a few games under Unsworth 's under 23s might help the lad. Sharpen him up. Gain confidence. Let's see what he can really do.
I suspect that youngsters will always struggle in a Silva team. Just watch how quick Holgate will be dropped . Davies also.

...no, I don’t think it’s akin. The position he played last night allowed him to get in attacking situations. He had a run in on goal through a central position that he failed to capitalise on. Richarlison had a very similar opportunity and scored. He found himself in similar threatening positions he’d have found himself in when he’s central.

His key role was as an attacker, I didn’t note him covering Coleman much. He still gets the ball with a defender in front of him, he still found himself in the penalty area with the ball at his feet.

What?? Similar opportunity?

1 v 3 is the same as 1 v 1???

...ah, ok. I saw him run in on goal in similar fashion to Richarlison but had his shot blocked by the defender. I didn’t notice he had 3 defenders in front of him.

Regardless, we can’t simply give the lad game time when points and cup competitions are at stake. It really is up to him to grasp his chance and he was given a chance last night. I was chuffed Silva gave him the opportunity, and the Manager was entirely correct to withdraw him at half-time.

I did, at half time when there was fume at Walcott coming on;

The level of fume towards Silva having the audacity to make a sub after a woeful first half wasn't proportionate IMO.

Fans fume that Silva never makes a proactive change, or an early change - he did that last night, fair play.

We're not a nursery. We haven't won a trophy for over 24 years.

Everton > 19 year old still finding his feet.

Moise Kean needs time, an patience, but not at the expense of Everton's pursuit of a trophy.

I get what you're saying but not giving the lad a chance by playing him out of position and then hauling him off because it's not working is really poor man management. He's not a winger. I'd accept if he said come inside when we have the ball and link up with Dom rather than stay out wide. Just doesn't make sense. I'd have preferred to have given him 60 mins at the beginning up top or let him on 30mins to go. If the lads' not good enough fair dues but give him a chance!

I hope he's not a Rodwell (a hyped up youngster that ends up failing to make it at league one standard).
Difference is, Rodwell was hyped up by our own fanbase which is an absolute lot terrible barometer for the actual ability of a player. This lad had the hype long before he came here.

Maybe, but I'd day the hype is based on very little regardless. Rodwell was hyped at a national level as well, the national papers were hyping him up as the future of English football after 1 or 2 international appearances.

100%.

But people need to stop writing the kid off like his career ended last night. He had a tough night, but should be back involved with the squad as a sub at the weekend. He's young. He's got ability. He needs good coaching and someone to keep him thinking positively. But he has plenty of time.

Hope that this doesn't turn into a Lookman situation again

The guy is super talented and in the minutes he has played thus far, you can see he is better than Calvert Lewin. I hope Marco starts to put him in front or CL in the future.

I’ll be honest I’ve seen nothing to suggest he is better than DCL. Take his reputation away and base him purely on his minutes here and he’s done no better.
He does need the minutes and game time to get used to the league tho and he may have the potential to be better than what we have seen so far. His price tag means he won’t be getting loaned out and Silva won’t give him the minutes as he’s fighting for his job, I really don’t what options we actually have..

Also, in no way should he have been on the wing last night when DCL has plenty of experience in that position. They should have swapped.
Silva must take all the blame for that.
