2019/20 Moise Kean

It sure will. At least in another 12 months we should know if he’s good enough or not, but we certainly don’t know now if he is.

If in 12 months, he's actually starting games (and starting them here, not out on loan at Lecce) then that will be a start.

There are scores of other u20 players across Europe who are regularly playing for their clubs in domestic and european competition, some internationally too - and getting far more minutes than Kean - many of whom weren't thought of as highly as Moise.

Assuming that Marco doesn't have a personal vendetta against the kid, and assuming he's behaving as he should and doing the business in training then there is no excuse for it, he's got to step up soon.

Taking all that into account (and obviously Silva has to give him ample opportunity) it's on him to prove why he should be in the starting eleven. There's only Calvert Lewin & Tosun in his way, and, while I like DCL, they're hardly world beaters.

it's been disappointing that he's not been given much game time so far. To me it seems more and more likely he won't be leading our front line regularly any time soon, which isn't really surprising considering his age, experience and mentality plus the pressure on him and the pressure the manager and club is under right now. I think we'll see a lot more of him in 2-3 years (if he's still here) or if and when he's good enough. Easing him might be the right thing to do cos if he plays too much and fails to impress the fans will prob get on his back. it's not an easy job for him to come in and do and maybe the reality is he's prob not ready for it yet.

It might be an idea to let him play in the U23s for maybe 6 months.

If he can find the onion bag regularly with Unsy it would do his confidence the world of good and after all he is only 19. Lets also remember that other youngsters have benefited from a bit of patience, Tom Davies and Mason Holgate are looking better with every game in their respective roles, and they are older and have been at the club a lot longer.

Hopefully Brands can come up with a decent loan striker in January.

We didn't spend £28m on him to be playing in the U23 squad though, did we?

Maybe not, but surely we need to do whatever it takes to develop has talents in order for him to come good in the future.
It's not the lads fault we paid a large fee for him and I remember Davies and Holgate getting down the banks for faults with their respective games not that long ago. Most Strikers are confidence players so I hope we don't destroy his before he has even started playing regularly.

He was a bit of a ditherer though. I have even heard other former managers saying the same thing, that dealing with him was a nightmare because he would take so long deciding if he would sell a player. I agree I don't think moyes would have signed him. But he probably wouldn't have signed lots of the players we have signed over the past 6 years.
I think it's interesting that Kean has apologised for being late for the team meeting and it has come out that that is why he was not in the match day squad against Southampton. Silva was asked about it and he said "it's a decision, that's all". So the timing of the story this morning is interesting, the manager was getting a lot of Flack online for not playing him, I think this possibly is to try and take the heat off him?
I think Kean has the potential to do well here, but I think his attitude will determine that, at present he is behind Tosun and DCL, unless one of them is injured, tired or suspended Kean probably won't start. The only thing he can do is try to show the manager in training that he is up for the challenge and force his way into the team
Yeah, but his approach garnered massive fees for players, and saw us loads of bargains. Often said bargains were sold on for a big profit. Given our budget at the time, was an ideal approach.

Unfortunately I don't agree with this. First, it happened twice. Second, I don't think that's the only issue, as I would have expected an internal fine to sort the situation, because dropping him brings a relatively minor thing into the public in a big way (which is why we're discussing it).

I have a feeling, unfortunately, that there's a pretty big problem with his attitude off the pitch and we're not hearing the full story. Which is extremely unfortunate.

Yes, he's young and needs time, but if he's not doing the basics of being a professional footballer then he's not going to come good.
I think you’ve hit the nail on the proverbial head.

Comparing Kean and Balotelli is honestly random as.

Balotelli is a nutter who sets fireworks off in his own bathroom and drops darts onto academy players from the top of buildings. Kean was late for a meeting...

How are you ignoring the very evident racial abuse that is a scourge on Italian football?
Balotelli was also a far better footballer. There is a reason he never played much.

I was fully on board with giving him time but it depended on him keeping his head down and working.

To be honest I've gone completely the other way now and wrote him off. He's gone in January or the summer at the latest, can't see no way back.

Which is a shame as I have a feeling this lad could have been top drawer and may well still be if he matures.

??????????????????????????????????

??????????????????????????????????

You don't often see scenarios like this work out well.

I'd have been fine if he didn't score a goal this season and just worked on settling in - I've said consistently that he's only 19, in a new country, doesn't know the language and will need time. But he needed to be a professional to succeed here. Unfortunately he's turning up late and his dad is saying it was a mistake he came and he wants him out. All the signs indicate that there's a big problem here.

This only ends one way IMO, but I hope I'm wrong of course. I'd be surprised if he plays for us again to be honest.
