2019/20 Moise Kean

Well surely if you thought he was "never good enough for the PL" and a "poor fit" then surely you couldn't have ever imagined him "frightening" PL defences?

Just admit you backtracked.
I very quickly back-tracked. I thought that was what I just said?

That's right. It was after seeing his first outing when he was direct and had a pop at goal on sight. It was impressive. I subsequently stated I was wrong to hold that view based on such small amount of evidence. There's nothing to see here.
Well he didn’t join until 4th August and you posted this on 31st July so not sure how you based it on his first game?

I'm hoping Kean is similar to the Adama Traore situation. The kid went from Barca to Villa to Boro. Had terrifying pace and strength but was so, so raw. Always picked the wrong final ball or tried to do the same thing everytime at Boro, positional sense was atrocious. Pulis always swapped him to the other wing at half time, purely to keep him close to the dugout side as he constantly had to tell him where to stand, where to run etc.

With coaching, perseverance and maturity on his part, he's gone on to significantly improve and become a sought after asset.

For me, it's much too early to write Kean off. The only factor in that should be if Kean wants to leave... Even that for me, would be better on loan, for now.

Should be given another season with another chance, people claiming he's not good enough based in a few starts but juventus apparently want him back.

Be a massive shame if we just send him back now

Thats not Kean then.

You seemed convinced he’d help frighten PL defences when he signed so nice use of hindsight.

I thought the same when he first signed, he looked like he had energy and talent, but was very raw.

I know he didn’t get much game time, but he didn’t show any real signs of adapting to the PL for me and looked a bit out of his depth in a lot of his appearances.

I wouldn’t be bothered if we sold him now.

I wouldn't look too much into last season mate Bournemouth as a whole looked like they threw in the towel half way through the season.

Not saying I want him but the links in the press wont go away and the reality is Tosun is crap, Kean isn't ready and DCL outside of a 3 month patch has been wildly inconsistent infront of goal over the past 3 years at the club - a bad injury to Richarlison and for me we will struggle big time up top unless Kean magically transforms into Mason Greenwood overnight.

Its why I think the stories of Kean out on loan are not that far fetched if the club brings in another CF - it essentially gives him time to play week in week out for a season and develop then hopefully he returns next summer a better player.

The alternative is if he does go out that he messes around, is late for training, doesn't kick on and we know we have to sell.
I don't worry too much on one season, fact is he has only broke double figures twice, that isn't good enough for us if we want to step up a level. if he was £10m and brought in as a squad player then I'd not complain but his price will be too high for what he brings i reckon.

Whether it was a priori or based on his first game, the point stands that I held my hand up early and said I jumped the gun on declaring Kean a player who would do well for Everton.

It'd be nice if others similarly admitted their errors.

He did a lot of work with that 100m sprinter Darren Campbell, he worked with him on his breathing technique which he said helped him immensely as he was holding his breath sprinting. It allowed him to relax apparently,I seen an interview with Campbell the other week talking about it. That transformed his game and now look at him.

So you agree it’s probably too early to judge a player based on a limited sample size?

Limited sample? He's had bags of time on the pitch to get a goal and / or show he has a football brain. He didn't take it. Let's just draw a line under his time here and move on.

I’d rather keep him, but not overly fussed.
He came on as sub every single week and not once did anything of note. Even Niasse came on and changed a couple of games.

Season starts in 2 weeks and realistically, we’ll be bringing him on from the bench again. It’s not suddenly gonna work.
