Is a tinpot league one that has produced the current world champions, Euros runners up, 2 champions league semi finalists and some of the worlds best players?

I don't know why that makes the league any better? Marco van Basten came from the Dutch league but we'd still call it a tinpot league.

No one was calling the Dutch league tinpot when he was around though. The dutch were in the elite then and now they aren’t. My description of the French league above could’ve matched the Dutch league then but not now

It's a good league just because of the French players in it. As a country, they really do produce a LOT of top players.

Even calling the Dutch league 'tinpot' is condescending. It's arguably one of the top 10 leagues in world football.

You clearly view anything outside of the 'big 4' leagues as tinpot. Would you be so condescending to clubs of a similar stature?

I watched Ajax win 13-0 in the league last weekend. It’s a tinpot league.

Okay; well Luis Suarez, van Persie, Arjen Robben all came from the Dutch league. Being in the Top 10 leagues in the world hardly means much considering outside of Europe no one plays decent football.

France has amazing academies, yes. The league being great? Not so much. When’s the last time a team from France did anything memorable in Europe? Even oil rich PSG haven’t won anything.

Of the 22 man France squad that won the World Cup only 9 played in France. Of those 9 only 5 now play in France.

You're missing the point. Nobody is claiming it's "great."

If anybody is claiming it's great, then it's clearly hyperbole. Just like claiming it's tinpot is.

Just to clarify: You view anything outside of the 'top 4' leagues as tinpot?

I don't think any league in the world is decent anymore thanks to money. There are some great teams in each league and a lot of absolutely wank teams too.
