2020/21 Moise Kean

I'd rather he had signed us a player we could have gotten value out of on the pitch these last 2 years tbh.

The accountants will be buzzing though.

Actually, just found this. Sounds like you were buzzing with Brands bringing in a highly talented world prospect. It hasn't worked out and if we get double our fee for him never doing the bizz for us that's a great piece of business.

Print this one out for your agenda wall.

I was buzzing for Kean. I am gutted he hasn't worked out here.

I just said the same elsewhere today.

Doesn't change the fact it hasn't worked out for us beyond selling him to someone else and that is disappointing and indicative that it wasn't the right signing for us at the time.

But he tried to sign the sort of prospect we all clamour for on here - not every deal works and it sounds like we'll make a fortune from it.

You can't wear your Hindsight Hat every day.

I was also happy we signed Gomes.

They haven't worked out along with other signings. Brands should have anticipated that and spent the money better.

It's not really wearing a hindsight hat. It is judging judging the DOF's signings performances for the club.

All well and good to give him credit for negotiating deals or securing signings but if the players he has signed aren't actually doing it on the pitch then it all seems a waste of time.

Is his job just to sign players and agree contracts or is it to get usbplayers that make a contribution to the manager's plans and improve our performance in competitions?

It's his job to sign players he thinks will take us to the next step. For a myriad of reasons not every signing can work out as is seen in every club in the world. If he can shift a bogus striker who looked out of place against Salford City for nearly £50m then he should be applauded for that.

If he could predict the outcome of every signing he makes he would be on a trillion a year at the biggest club in the world.
Well I'm not saying it has to be every signing. It has to be far better than what his signings have achieved so far if you want to honestly call him and those signings successful for me.

Kean earning a profit but not improving our league performance isn't really that impressive to me. Especially when you add in the players Brands has signed that he now can't sell (Iwobi, Delph, Bernard, Gomes).

But we're in the Kean thread, discussing Kean's probably departure, of which I'm saying should be praised if it goes through.

If you'd like to discuss all those other players we're in the wrong thread.
