You are right , but on the other hand who plays a pair of strikers nowadays.

The days of Sharp and Heath / Gray or Lineker and Beardsley are well gone.

We wouldnt need to start Kean and DCL every game...rotation is fine as long as both are getting minutes.

What we really seem to lack is ability to create chances for players which i think we need to focus on -- even our CBs and RB positions dont add much going forward.

….bit like playing with 10 men having a forward who only gets involved in the box.

What role does Ings play? Seems like a poacher to me :)

Also Ings at the sams age had played 48 times for Burnley and scored 6 goals. The next season he hit 26 in 45 games.

Moved at a young age and never got a run of games even when he did well.

Id like to see what he can do for us now.

Whilst it's true that Ings best stuff is in the box he can also play with his back to goal.

Kean can't or won't either play with his back to goal or run the channels.

However I could see Kean and DCL as a very good combo but you'd have to play 442 or 352 so can't see that happening.

Kean did well against Newcastle and one or two other games where he was holding the ball up / turning running at teams.

It was such a limited sample size though...

I think he could easily pop up as another Ings type.

Good finishers are hard to come by, if he successfully adapts.

Most certainly better options though. If PSG wanted him as much as he wants them then they’d have bought him already, they’re using the fact he wants to join them so bad to try get him on a loan. Pay the fee or he doesn’t join them. If another team doesn’t want to sign him then he stays and either throws his toys out the pram and ruins his career or he gets his head down and does his best.
Don’t disagree at all, but given the likelihood of him doing his best here (which I perceive to be low) we are - and I won’t apologise for continually repeating myself - cutting our nose off to spite our face.

Plan A - Get a transfer fee

Plan B - Get a loan fee/wages covered

hes 20 years old with a one goal in two scoring ratio for psg. There's no need for me to 'magic' suitors out of the air, it's just a question of the price
Granted, some transfers happen under the radar but have you heard anything, no matter how tenuous about anyone other than PSG sniffing around him this summer? You’re suggesting the club point blank refuse the financial safety net of a loan fee and covered wages on the off-chance that somebody will come in for him because he banged a few in for a team that’s likely to create more goal scoring chances domestically than the vast majority of other teams?

I have to be clear - I don’t hate the lad. I’d love him to do well for us if I thought it were possible. I don’t want to diminish his achievements at PSG. With that said, PSG don’t want to pay us a transfer fee. I do not know of ANY other club apparently interested. I almost want to sacrifice a year of my life just to see the utter fume from everyone in here when we’ve paid him a year’s wages for the occasional 5 minute light jog and a penalty against Southend.

Well let's hope Marcel has a bit more of a poker face, I'd rather not just give him what he wants. I think our hand has improved with Benitez, he's not going to be pushed around in these matters.

That’s exactly it, mate. Everyone posting the “let’s make an example” shouts just don’t want PSG/Kean having their way because it’s perceived to be at the expense of us. Given the alternative, or lack of, I think it’s the opposite. Not our ideal outcome by any stretch, but the only viable one at the moment that works.

…start Kean? Rotate him with DCL? Sounds easy but he was nothing short of useless for us. You want us to utilise an ineffective resource?

Kean hasn’t shown he’s worthy of more game time for us, Ancelotti had more confidence in Gordon.

What you suggest is based on an assumption that we’d get back a different player. I can’t see Kean playing for Everton again.

Problem is the way the transfer window is shaping up it could be necessity to make use of Kean.

If you are trying to offload a player, the worst thing you can do is loan him to a club for multiple years and let him become enamored with said club. It makes an actual sale impossible when the player has his heart set on one destination and the club in question aren’t willing to play ball.

Cut the cord, let Kean see how little PSG actually ‘want’ him, and see if this situation can be salvaged. Maybe he is humbled, maybe not- but we cannot come across as soft here. Just one of those situations

Completely get what you’re saying mate. Just think we’re in the position now that if we loan him to PSG again we’ll come off as proper mugs and open for it to happen with future players. Why I’ve always said we need a nasty git at the club sometimes rather than try and be friendly and taken advantage of.

Completely agree and think it would be a disaster loaning him back to PSG. Why we have to make a point of they pay the transfer fee or go away.
