Look at the money the RS, Man City and Man Utd, even Spurs have spent on players who are bang average. £22m guarantees nothing these days.
Yeah, they may have turned out bang average, but they were signed as star players. How is us paying the same out not the same? We have finite resources and if we pay that cash out it should be the case that we have a top quality player that can be the difference to us. But we've made two signings for £50M who I would never expect to get us a lot further on than we are.

I think it'll be an appalling waste of resources. We'll look back on this period and shake our heads at how 'kin stupid the club were for sanctioning the deals.

I wouldn't put Spurs in that category. They are the role model that Everton should aspire to. When you look at the fees they have spent on players and compare to the others there is no comparison. They obviously have an excellent scouting network and tend to buy players with lots of potential but rarely the finished article. I hope Steve Walsh (ala Gana) is able to spot these type of players, as a club with our finances, it is the only way forward.
