Let's see what he brings. It's all well and good saying he'll do this and he'll do that and he's a player who you dont notice but is effective for it. You simply dont know until he's playing for your club. You may have seen a youtube package or remember a game or two here and there for S'ton, but it's not solid evidence.

Personally, I think he's a nothing player with no major strength who can now and again shine with an eye catching pass. If he's as useful as a Carsley or McCarthy when he first arrived though we'll have spent well. But we just dont know yet.

What I am hoping for is the kind of player who breaks up the opposition's play and quickly turns defence into attack - getting the ball to Rom and Ross in space - when the opponents don't have everyone behind the ball.

From what I've noticed so far from him, he likes to sit in front of the back four and is constantly looking around for where opposition players are and read any 'danger'. It's early days yet but I've been impressed with his reading of the game. Carsley would provide the defence with protection and read the game well and attempt to block he was also excellent in covering the side of the pitch when the full backs would go forward. He does have a good pass in him and I think he will get better with more game time.
