Moyes linked with Villa and Spurs

Why? They are traditionally a big club who tend not to do knee jerk. The owners have cash and are prepared to spend sums in excess of what Moyes can get at Everton. I think, if offered, Moyes would have to be on drugs to consider turning them down given the bleak future he has ahead of him at this club.

Dylan?!?!?!?!?! Danny??!?!!?!?!?!?!? please tell me that i'm not seeing this.

I don't doubt for a minute that Villa have a competent owner, who likes to back the owner.

Villa are no where near the side Everton are, have little support - never compete in major competitions. Very little respect for other clubs ( see Downing, or Bent ) I'd eat my horses hat if he joined Villa.

I don't own a horse, or a hat. by the way..

They've been to as many finals as we have in the past few years. As for support, they pull in as many fans as we do, if not more. I don't see how you can rule them out, they've got more ambition than we have and an owner willing to spend. It would be a career step up for Moyes going there.

Sooner or later, he will be off, to a team like Villa. God knows where that'll leave us, come in Gary Megson ?

It's not even a sideways move. Sure, they've spent, but as Damon would say if he was here, they've only spent what they've sold.

I'm not sure how true that is, mind, but Damon uses all fancy fonts and wiki links so it looks dead convincing.

Villa is a much much more appealing prospect as a manager than Everton are. And if (or rather when) Moyes goes, i daren't think who the candidates might be to replace him.

Villa, side ways move. More of the same as per now, with a bit more money.

Spurs, a step up, with a board who spend money like water.

Although villa is a sideways move, sometimes managers want a fresh start. Bit like players transferring to clubs of similar stature.

He'd never in a month of Sundays go to Villa.

Sideways move at best without the stability he has at Everton.

He'd have been sacked by Christmas the last couple of years if he was at any other club equal of our stature.

5 managers in the time Moyes has spent at Evertom

The owners have cash and are prepared to spend sums in excess of what Moyes can get at Everton.

As Martin O'Neil would tell you, that time has gone. Lerner has constantly reiterated their sell-to-buy policy. They're no different to us in that respect now. They've taken more than they've spent over the past few seasons and their wage bill eats more of their turnover than ours.

I think, if offered, Moyes would have to be on drugs to consider turning them down given the bleak future he has ahead of him at this club.

Ah yes. The mighty Aston Villa. Losing and drawing more than they've won this season. A point from relegation. As potloss as us with a weaker side than us.

Net spend of £40m in the 4 years or so since he bought Villa. An investment of £10m a year, plus whatever made in player sales, and they've just spent £24m on an England centre forward. Its still better than what we can offer any manager. And i wouldn't even say that they have a weaker side than us, they've already beaten us once this season.

Villa Fan here. I think Moyes would be a fairly good shout for us as manager, not saying he would definitely leave you guys for us at all, as I think both sets of fans would argue that they were the better/bigger club with a better side (which to me just says we are fairly even). So I'm not disagreeing it would perhaps be a sideways step for him and I have massive respect for what he/your side has done with the money your board have given you, some top players that I would love to see in our squad.

If he hangs with you for another year he has a chance at Spurs when Harry takes over England, but I think to go to one of the Manchester sides, he has to prove something inbetween 'fighting for Europe' (Us/You) and 'fighting for the Title' (Manchester). I think Spurs, Villa or Everton (with more money) are his best chance of doing that. Imo, if you get a new board in or just some more money then you will no doubt keep him, I think if it stays the same (and obviously im an outsider looking in) he could possibly move on, and I certainly wouldnt say no.

3 Of them under our previous owner who was a leech to the team. Under R.Lerner we had one manager for 3 years, who then quit and second one who was a poor choice. We are by no means Knee Jerk as Houllier is still with us and probably should have been sacked under most clubs by now. If anything I think Mr. Lerner has been a bit too lenient (both with Houllier&Results and with Martin O'Neil&Wages)

As Martin O'Neil would tell you, that time has gone. Lerner has constantly reiterated their sell-to-buy policy. They're no different to us in that respect now. They've taken more than they've spent over the past few seasons and their wage bill eats more of their turnover than ours.

Lerner rarely ever speaks to the press about his ownership of Villa (or the NFL team Cleveland Browns). Certainly hasn't said Sell-to-Buy, let alone constantly. I think this is a common misconception about Martin O'Neil, the media were very much in love with him - the only reason MON was not given money was because he was told he needed to cut down our disgusting wage bill (which you quite rightly touch upon). MON's departure was more to do with the fact he wouldn't ship out people on high wages who he rarely played/were no longer making the grade (Carew 55k, Heskey 50k, Sidwell 40k, Warnock 40k, Beye 40k the list goes on). Infact, it is now believed MON didn't simply quit as his departure has gone to tribunal. Simply wouldnt get rid of money being spent in waste so wasn't given anymore money to spend.. It was more about reducing the wage bill than getting money back to spend on transfer fee's, as we were well aware that the players that needed to go were coming to an end of their contract or hadn't played enough to warrant their fee's. As soon as Houllier got rid of some of these players in January, he was instantly given money to spend - not saying we are Manchester City but I'd say we have more potential investment than you guys (not dissing your club as I think you have worked wonders with your very poor board)

I would have to disagree on the weaker side part as going forward we have some great options, but I do envy your central midfield (would kill for Arteta, Rodwell or Fellaini - or all three) but I think finishing above you for the last 3 seasons (i think?) proves we aren't a weaker side per se. That said, granted we have been piss poor this season, and the losing and drawing more this season is precisely the reason why this rumor mill started in the first place, manager needs a change.

Sorry for the terribly long post from a Rival fan, but some common misconceptions inthere that bug me a bit :p

Over the past few years, they've sold more than they've spent.

"Look at Villa lar, buying Bent for 20 odd million. Thats ambition. Why cant we do that...", forgetting that £18/£24m was funded by £26m James Milner, £4m Curtis Davies, £3m Craig Gardner....

Just like the year before when they signed Stewart Downing for £12m - the figure they received for Gareth Barry.

They spent money a while back but those days are gone and they are up to their eyes with a wage bill that isn't sustainable. There's a reason Martin O'Neill left....

Martin O'Neill sensationally quit Aston Villa on Monday after failing to receive assurances that he would be allowed to re-invest all the money from James Milner's £24million sale to Manchester City.
