Moyes linked with Villa and Spurs

Benitez turned Villa down, the main reason being insufficient transfer funds available.
FAO, Mat Damon we told them lid they just wouldn't listen.:lol::lol:

It's football finance.

Apparently Martinez was contacted weeks ago by Villa. Seems that he was their top choice from day one.

That's just a PR line.

They're hardly going to say: "we've got little funds available, and that is why we can't get the one's we looked at earlier and we're now at the second tier of manager choices"

are they?

If he was contacted weeks ago, then Wigan would have made a comment instantly. That's what Dave Whelan does.

VILLA are skint. If they don't recoup some money they're in trouble. MUST cut costs

Sunderland are cutting costs. MUST cut costs.

Newcastle are cutting costs, and bringing transfer money in and buying cheaper replacements (on the fly).

The poison chalice that is the Villa job isn't proving very popular.
An out of work manager isn't even interested, says it all really.

People have often complained about comparing and contrasting: when it didn't suit their agenda.

So lets continue to do so!

WE'RE IN A COMPETITIVE SPORT - COMPETING WITH OTHER CLUBS.

Football finance and BUDGETING is HUGELY IMPORTANT.

Villa are like a Supertanker. It's going to take two / three years just to cut the costs before even thinking about them paying back the debt(s). Part of this is MANDATORY player sales there JUST TO KEEP DEBT INCREASES MINIMAL!

Sunderland are cutting costs through player sales, as they've exhausted lines of credit they've used in previous seasons, so now they're selling to buy and cutting back overall. Looking for cheaper (better?) replacements.
Debt has been high in recent years to major shareholders which needs balancing. DO NOT EXPECT A NET TRANSFER SPEND!(above that brought in in last 12 months)

Newcastle are cutting costs, through player sales, having done so already and cutting back on existing debts. This coupled to a higher overall turnover could mean they're in a relative (and improving) decent position unless they then return to indebtedness.
They are still selling to buy and raise funds. Even though not publicly admitted. DO NOT EXPECT A NET TRANSFER SPEND (above that brought in in last 12 months)

Everton are attempting to keep costs at least stable, or reduce them (if they can). Ownership/Infrastructure/Turnover expansion is a key issue. However increasing debts are relatively lower than other club's have been. Probable strategy is sell a player to keep debts back and use expanded turnover as far as possible to re-jig the squad with no net increase in debt the target.

Current budgets have always targeted a £6million annual loss in recent seasons.

Unless ownership/infrastructure issues are resolved thats medium term strategy. (ownership in that case is at discretion of current board).

DO NOT EXPECT A NET TRANSFER SPEND!(above that brought in in last 12 months)

Major positive: Everton: is number of UNSOLD youth players coming through - in sheer number at one time

Other clubs to follow...

Hopeless.

We're not competing with them.

All that typing for nothing.

Lol!

I wonder what Martinez would do for Villa season ticket sales? And after they sell Young and Downing?

Doing an ace job Lerner isn't he?

He's doing what you want him to do: attacking that wage/revenue issue.

Everton are run like a whelk stall. That's all you should worry about. Relating them to other clubs not spending is just wallowing in the gutter.

Isn't that the wage/revenue something he sanctioned the buildup of?

And wallowing in the gutter?

They're the teams we've got to compete against, amongst others. Also the biggest spenders which you've complained epic-ally about too!

Venkey's also not content in almost taking Blackburn down last season, now go and sell off one of their most promising assets for a paltry sum really.

Not looking good for the much vaunted GET LERNER / VENKEY IN! combo chicken burger is it Davek

Has Mr Damon done another u turn in his views on the board ?

Seems so.

This "Ownership/Infrastructure/Turnover expansion is a key issue." is a pipe dream of his that is not and nowhere near to being implimented for beards.

We all know we're not going to finish higher than 7th (miracle to get 6th) next season. We all know we'll flog a bunch of player and a big name will be gone. Its happened for close to 10 years now but as long as our finances are fine, we'll be fine.

We're like Arsenal in that respect....but without the top 4 finishes.

Welcome to the forum mate. And thanks for the financial expertise on your club. It makes a change hearing about it from someone familiar with the subject. There's one or two on here who believe themselves to be experts on Villa, but obviously they know little about the matter.

Is the correct answer.

Lerner or Kenwright as your chairman? I thnk there'd be a landslide if that was put to the test.

Cheers for the expert analysis ClaretandBlue. It sounds from all that that Villa have done some necessary pruning and are good to go again when the next manager comes in and steps right into a stable environment? I agree about the Lerner role: he and his family have loaned money to the club with interest, but you cant see what would be in it for them to ever call that in as it would destroy their asset - the club.

I also notice that Vlla's revenue streams have been stunted of late partly because of the Acorn sponsorship deal - which was allowing a local charity to get some money from their association with the club. That's now over and the club have some extra revenue from that source now with FxPro?

"It is also understood Villa owner Randy Lerner won’t sanction a massive spending spree in the summer."
Well ! well !! Randy Lerner tightening the purse strings.
Surely not ?

They can't even GIVE the Villa job away it seems!

NO MONEY! Three years of work to get them back in shape, of just not losing money!

NO one can say we didn't tell them, ey Davek?

No they're not. United, Chelsea, Arsenal, City, Spurs, Liverpool...they're the teams we have to compete against.

Suddenly the plan of selling players and no net spending doesn't look so good, does it?

Actually thats the only statement you've made there that's correct.

Decades? Nope. That's just you're "AMBITION" shouters who know little about what the term actually means and how to go about REALISING AMBITION.

Going out and getting £140 million in loans just for players is not ambitious. Putting in place a stadium at Goodison with which to then fund player purchases and further youth development is ambitious.

Its also SUSTAINABLE long term too.

Those will be taken down a peg or two this summer onwards too

Many will be sell to buy. Of those Arsenal have the real term, highest spending power should they chose to.
