Why the rush?
So the new manager can get to know the new players and the club. Decide what kinda player he wants, plan for next season etc. Wouldn't be surprised if Stoke appoint someone before us

Why the rush?
So Martinez is so interested in the Everton job that he is in two minds about resigning from relegated Wigan?
Tell him he isn't wanted, stop messing around and get Pereria BILL YOU MASSIVE MEFF
So in other words Martinez hasn't got any formal offers on the table & isn't prepared to just walk away from Wigan without a firm job offer in his hand.
If he had decided to stay, then he'd have announced it today, so his intention is definitely to leave - on the proviso he gets the 'right' offer.
Would tend to suggest hes not our number one target and we are waiting on somebody else, unless im reading far too much between the lines. So in other words Martinez hasn't got any formal offers on the table & isn't prepared to just walk away from Wigan without a firm job offer in his hand.

Agreed....so what is holding him back? wages , budget or both !
Everton should,nt be hanging around for him to make up his mind
Not that silly, as it gives some context to the "Martinez is a great manager" claims. Whilst you can't directly compare the seasons, it's still a relevant comment, that the stats don't back up the claim that Martinez has been 'all that' at Wigan.
The fact that we've not offered him the job.
He's currently got nothing to leave Wigan to go to, so he's now going to leave them hanging there while he waits for something that might tempt him to arrive.
Whelan had no need to play this out in public, both meetings should have been private, he's an egotistical auld sod.

Of all the internal candidates mentioned
Stubbs
Weir
Ferguson
Neville
Round
Weir would be my choice, I don't have any massive insight into why, it just strikes me that he has the right characteristic's as a man to do the job
