I dont like the arguement that Matinez has done really well with the resources he has had, all he done was fight relagation for 3 years and eventually go down.

over the past 5 years Wigan's net transfer spend is about the same as ours, however they finish 16th or below, and we finish top 8 or better.

we started that 5 year period in totally different circumstances though. it's hard to attract good players to wigan. much easier for us, just a shame we cant afford half of them

good point, however I still think Wigan underachieved in there stay in the Premier League.
Your right though, its not ALL money were a bigger club than Wigan more likely to attract better players.

erm......didnt he

Didnt he just win the FA cup ?

Not a chance.....£5 Million is a lot of money even for Martinez

I really think Martinez would balls up for us, he kind of used to loosing and does not bring that winning mentality.

This is what I hope our Choices are

1 - Vitor Periera
2 - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
3 - Roberto Di Matteo

If Periera is a No go, I hope other names are considered ahead of Martinez.

Although out of wigans squad I would take

Kone
MCarthy
Mcarthur
Maloney
Callum mcmanaman
Alcaraz - was class against us

I honestly can't see us paying £5m compensation for Martinez, or him buying out his contract. Probably just newspaper talk anyway. I thought a one year rolling contract came to an end at the end of each season anyway.

A one year rolling contract means that no matter what date it is, there is always one year remaining on the contract. If you get sacked, then you are entitled to one years wages. If you resign, you pay one years worth of compo

I seriously hope it isn't Martinez.

28.8% win percentage at Wigan, stuck with the same 3-5-2 which was doomed to defeat.

Got lucky because Pip decided that he wanted to have the rest of the season off and play crap against them in the cup, then went on to beat a very poor Millwall side in a easy semi-final before knocking off a distracted Man City side in the final.

Absolute joke of a manager, good football isn't everything - it's the 3 points which matter and I'd see our club play long-ball if it can secure a consistent 55-65 points a season.

Did Man Utd 'get lucky' when they scored 2 goals in the final minutes of the euro cup final against bayern? Or when Terry missed his pen in their other final? Does that make Fergie a joke manager?
Thats footy, Martinez and Wigan won the cup, there's no point trying to make out it was lucky or a fluke.
Ideally I want VP but I do think Martinez would be a good choice and would embrace the responsibility of running the club top to bottom.

What? Where did I compare Fergie to Martinez and my post is completely relevant. He said Wigan only won the cup because Neville had an off day and City were distracted in the final. My point was you can't make these excuses and used man united as an example of this. Dear oh dear.
