just because Wigan have been around the drop zone it doesn't mean we would be. We have a much bigger budget. It's like saying Moyes would have Man U around 6th - 8th all the time.

40 pts mate...that will be the only target this year. You will be begging for a 6th place trophy.

Let's be honest, whoever gets the job is going to be subject to a) adulation, b) fierce criticism and c) something else I can't think of, from the masses on here.....some people like the look of their own posts too much, and some just type absolute rubbish for the sake of it (sorry if that's you and you are under 16).

Just get a manager in so we can have a 2000 page thread about players who are sh1t or boss.....and so we can have some proper " me mars mate Elsie saw a fella with a sleeve full of tatts and a blonde on his arm in Starbucks talking to another fella who had three mobiles an kept talking about directions to Finch Farm to a bloke he kept calling Billy Boy..."

why will that be the only target? Have you seen our squad, you know, the one that's been getting 60-65 points on a regular basis for a number of years? You think it will suddenly drop to 40 points in the space of a couple of months?

25 Percent win rate, 70 odd goals shipped, 3 or 4 seasons spent in the drop zone, his explanations for his defeats are comical.

Fkin hell Bill will give him a gold watch for keeping us out of the drop zone.

I wouldn't say it's comical to say that defensive injuries played a big part in them being relegated. There are fine margins in the bottom half of the league and a having loads of injuries in one area will obviously have an impact on a teams results.

......if he decides he wants to leave isn't that between him and his employer. In effect he's a free agent resigning before Everton or any other club make contact. The fact that he's resigning should at least impact the amount of compo that can be claimed.

Exactly as I see it. If he tells Whelan he wants to leave the club & doesn't have a firm offer from us on the table, then he would surely become a free agent? If he is the preferred choice I'm sure there'll be some form of compromise reached in order to bring it to a swift conclusion, but it'll be nowhere near £5M, as he was only being paid around £700K & he's on a years rolling contract.

**** badge, **** manager and a **** season to follow.
What has the badge got to do with the next Everton manager ?
Martinez,why tear into him ?
It should be Stubbs and Weir,as you have been trying to convince everyone on this forum that with your inside information this deal was struck last week.

That's always been the target under Moyes anyway, don't get me wrong, I'm not a great supporter of Martinez, but you can't claim that the main objective being we get 40 points is any different.

Before he came Moyes had never even managed in the premier league. Then in his second full season he had us down in 17th. One summer later after selling all of his best players, he took us to fourth in the premier league. That was in the days of a locked out top 4 nearly all of which had far better sides than they do now. Arsenal were in their post invincible season, Chelsea had brought in Mourinho, Liverpool were en route to winning the Champions League and Man U (well they never seem to go bad do they). My point is this just shows that it is impossible to judge the new manager on what he has done before. All you can achieve by that is to try and minimise the risk (although for that there is a Juande Ramos to any argument). Guardiola, Pereira, AVB, Mourinho - at some point they were all someone elses Alan Stubbs (this is not an endorsement of Stubbs, just using him to make a point). At some point Benitez, Klopp and others were relegating sides. Whoever it is, we need to get behind him and hope for another 04/05 miracle. Despite the crest, things are not nearly as bad now as they were in 03/04.

David Moyes managed to get that squad to 6th place. Martinez is not as good a manager as Moyes, not even close so it's inevitable we will slip places in the table. Some will disagree, so lets just wait and see eh?

Some fans are going to be in for a shock next season. Mainly those that wanted Moyes gone because he was "holding us back".

we'll see exactly how much he was holding us back next season won't we. For all that 6th/7th place trophy bollocks some loved to spout on here, I bet in a year's time that 6th place trophy will look very appealing.

maybe you're right but to say we will automatically become relegation candidates is ridiculous.
