Kone is like having a more expensive but only slightly better Marcus Bent. I would be disappointed if we signed him and sold Jelavic. Mcmanaman will command a huge fee which we won't pay and I pose the question what does McCarthy do that Rodwell didn't and get slated for?

McCarthy can stay fit.

Pereira as manager would be a huge risk.
I think that is true to say.He is coming to a new country,a new league,a new club.A league at a totally different level to anything he has known before.A league that is far more competitive than anything he has known before.
He is coming to a club that will not allow him to spend vast amounts to buy himself out of trouble,he will largely have to manage with whichever group of players he has.
He is not even the most experienced of managers with relatively little time spent as the no. 1 man.

That is not to say he wouldn't be a major success, but that success is far from guaranteed and as I have said his appointment would be a huge risk.
He would need to have done an extraordinary interview or outlined an excellent vision of the way forward for the club to merit getting the job.
I don't believe that winning a title alone with one of the strongest team in a lesser league is reason enough.

McCarthy can stay fit.

Why should we invest money in him other than he can stay fit? My fitness is up there with most doesn't mean I warrant a place in the Everton line up.

He does the same job as Rodwell (When fit), he is just flavour of the month amongst blues until they see him passing side ways and backwards and not driving forward they will then be slating him.

Not worth more than a 5mil investment IMO

Correct. The only player I'd have is Mcmanaman. There's a reason their squad just got relegated, and it aint the manager.

Exactly McManaman is the only player that could significantly improve one part of our team. The others? I don't think so, maybe the young keeper who is highly rated.

Pretty much agree with this. Plus we have Gibson playing the same role, even if Fellaini was to go don't think you could have McCarthy and gibbo in same team.

Fer a much better option IMO. As mcmanaman...Inflated price I'm sure based on a couple of months of good performances. Other options out there cheaper!

McCarthy plays further up the pitch than Gibson.

If Wigan had 5 players good enough to improve a top 6 team they wouldn't of got relegated.

I notice Bill's pointman at SSN, Alan Myers, was tweeting last night he reckons it's down to two (Martinez + one 'non-Premier League' manager) but 'probably' heavily in favour of Martinez he implied. He also doubted whether there was a second interview for Martinez yesterday and said BK had gone away for the weekend to arrive at a decision.

Kone has proved that he can score goals - I see him as an upgrade on Vic. Alcaraz is on a free and would be good cover. And if he brings McCarthy, Maloney and McManaman I would praise him.
He's 30 years old! Not the kind of signings we should be looking to make. As for Alcaraz, he was a mainstay of a defense that has shipped record numbers of goals. NO, not even on a free thanks.

Stays off the treatment table is the obvious one.
