It looks like the waiting could finally be over. As Sky Sports sources understand it, there are now no further obstacles in the way for Roberto Martinez to become the new Everton manager. I understand the compensation has been agreed with Wigan Athletic as of this morning. All that remains now is for Roberto Martinez to agree terms with Everton. We are anticipating there could be an announcement today, possibly this afternoon

This is from Fraser Dainton on Sky.

Did someone forget to take there funny pills today?

The Guardian is reporting today that the announcement on Martinez cannot be made until possible additional compensation is agreed with Wigan for backroom staff Martinez might want to bring with him. This, in turn, is dependent on who Moyes is taking to Man U.
I am definitely losing the will to live. Going to mow the lawn now as I'm so pissed off with the whole saga.

Everton should tell Moyes he's got until the end of the day to make his mind up or we're sending him on his way with Stubbs as his new right hand man.

I wouldn't be so sure mate. What if they never do it and we're stuck in a constant state of limbo and this thread goes on as an infinite loop of it being on and then obviously not on but then maybe it is and then Whelan talks some more ****, someone who knows Stubbs' nan says he's nailed on but then Neville's about to pass his coaching badges and nobody really knows what a hot laser is but everybody wants one and then Klinsmann gets mentioned for about two hours and then denies it again but then we all just spontaneously combust as we can't take the pressure?

I'm starting to suspect that this is actually happening now and we just haven't spontaneously combusted yet

Yeah mate, didn't really consider that outcome if I'm honest.

COME ON BILL! I HAVE A FAMILY FFS!!!

BBC Sportsday implying that Martinez is to be confirmed imminently.

I reckon the OS will have a section on how they consulted the fans, just to stop us moaning!

Whelan said on Monday night that terms had been agreed with Everton...they hadn't. He was probably trying to force the issue in an attempt to squeeze more money out of us.
Shabby behaviour at best.
I assume that at the same time the club are talking to Martinez and sorting out his contract as well as issues relating to transfer funds, coaching staff etc.
Hopefully today, just to shut Whelan up.

Do we know that Martinez definately wants the job?

You know what I find a bit weird. And i've been waiting to say this, but will now this seems just about done (famous last words).

Does anyone remember when Wigan had just ripped Huddersfield a new one in the FA Cup. They went to Martinez just after the draw for the quarters, and told him it was Everton or Oldham. He smiled and gave a nod. I've not been able to get this out of my head since all this manager lark has been going on.

It was probably nothing, but it totally stuck with me.

I hope Pereira doesn't come out and claim he was interviewed.

I hope it turns out to be a complete lie that he was ever interested, because choosing Martinez over him stinks of settling for mediocracy.

I'm sure he'll be ok, but it's another of those "let's hope he overachieves" signings and isn't really the ambitious name we were hoping for.
