Listening to the fans? Martinez wasn't exactly a top choice, appreciate he was some fans choice, but he was way down the pecking order for most. As has been backed up by pretty much every online poll

How many of the fans have spoken to Vitor though? Or even watched his Porto team play? He may have listened to the fans and interviewed the bloke and then decided he wasn't the first choice. If he was going to do a Pontius Pilot, he'd have put a poll on the official website and said whoever gets the most votes will be the manager. That sounds ridiculous.

BK knows most of us don't want Bobby anyhow. So he knows that if he delays a little, or rather a lot. Passes out random snippets of "Martinez to be named as Eberpton boss". Then we'll eventually, after much consternation, come round to the idea.

I found myself in the exact same position, when he "named" by hop-along. I had a sinking feeling of dread and underwhelmingness, followed by a few hours of convincing myself that maybe this might be good for us, to actually looking forward to next season with Bobby in charge.

Spot on.

People acting as if he should go out and hire whoever the most fans want is f***ing moronic. Listening to the fans does not mean throwing all other factors out of the window.

Any reason to moan though i suppose.

The ballots have been cast, and white smoke is emerging from St Luke's, lads. It's happening.

We don't know Pereira was even interested.

We don't know if he was approached and made unreasonable demands, or did a lousy interview, or said he could only coach and needed a DOF.

We don't know if Rangnick was ever interested, in fact the one thing he ever said poured cold water on the idea.

We don't know who else was interviewed.

In fact, we know very little. Which is as it should be IMO. We've taken the p out of Whelan for playing his part out in the media, but some on here think we shoudl have been doing the same.

The other thing about this 'listen to the fans' is: the press started feeding some names in - that's all that was - and then we all decided who from them it was that we wanted. Then expected Kenwright to choose from this narrow, press determined list. Would that have been 'listening to the fans'? Who did any independent thinking of their own? I don't suppose I did if I am honest.

In fairness, this was never going to be an X Factor style fans vote. He said from the off that he'd listen to the fans, but that ultimately it'd be his choice. So he's not lied at all, he's just not hired the fans forums favourite.

You're entitled to your opinion, so please don't' take offence by this. But I'm also entitled to mine. When you set out to go through an interview process, say you're going to consult the fans and then appoint the guy that all rumors point towards you having decided upon before the interview process began, that's called lying. It reeks of an internal stitch up before the process began, it happens in business and for me it's happened at our club.

So yes for me he's lied.

You can use the term 'fans forums choice', but surely as the fans forums are a representation of the fans because they're voted on by the fans.
