How many of the fans have spoken to Vitor though? Or even watched his Porto team play? He may have listened to the fans and interviewed the bloke and then decided he wasn't the first choice. If he was going to do a Pontius Pilot, he'd have put a poll on the official website and said whoever gets the most votes will be the manager. That sounds ridiculous.

Exactly. Kind of beat me to my post.

Im still waiting for a shock deal .. I think vitor will come out while wearing a Martinez Mask ... Surprise! (how i dream)

I'm beginning to doubt that Moyes will get the expected 'generous applause' when he brings his new favourite team to GP. He is quickly destroying any credibility that there might have been in his sound bites over the years. The minute this self centred average manager announced he was off to United he should have been told to sling his hook and not step inside GP again unless invited. The main agenda , for him, during his tenure at Everton, was not how well the team played, whether the best team was on the pitch, or whether the right subs were used, it was simply to make sure that everyone knew he was 'the boss'. Pandering to BK was very likely part of his major plan. I know that many readers will think that this is just me stating again my dislike for Moyes, but this is different. I didn't like Moyes tactics , I didn't like his negativity, I didn't like the way he bottled big games, but my gripes were all about his ability with regard to the TEAM. This rant, call it what you will, is about his selfish, self centred treatment of the CLUB.

You're entitled to your opinion, so please don't' take offence by this. But I'm also entitled to mine. When you set out to go through an interview process, say you're going to consult the fans and then appoint the guy that all rumors point towards you having decided upon before the interview process began, that's called lying. It reeks of an internal stitch up before the process began, it happens in business and for me it's happened at our club.

So yes for me he's lied.

You can use the term 'fans forums choice', but surely as the fans forums are a representation of the fans because they're voted on by the fans.

He can't appoint a manager just because a few thousand people on the internet have 'chosen' a candidate. That's madness.

How many of the fans watched Wigan week in week out? It's not like they were on match of the day that often, and if you're going to use that argument, then why would any team appoint a foreign manager? Or even scout foreign players. Surely we should live in a bubble? *humour intense* :)

If you want to hear ridiculous, if Martinez name was Bobby Martin and he was from the UK, how many of you would actually be voting for him to be our manager based on a ridiculously lucky FA cup run and a successful couple of seasons at Swansea, where he ultimately left because he said he couldn't take them to Premier league promotion?

Or it could just be that he's the best option. Quite a leap to determine that it's lying, especially as Kenwright never said he would appoint whoever the fans wanted. He said he would listen to the fans, and seeing as he's interviewed the two most popular candidates (Laudrup was never in the frame) i don't see how he's lied.

There is no candidate wanted by 'most' blues, the most popular option is Pereira but even he only has 38% of the vote, and most of the people clicking his name hadn't heard of the guy until six weeks ago. Laughable to expect he'd hire somebody based on that.

Is Pereira even a 'manager' ? Strikes me as more of a coach, which is not what Everton need. We can't afford to hire a director of football, we need somebody to take the reins in all aspects of the job Moyes did.
