Those trumpeting Pereira do realize that at Porto he is basically a coach and gets given the players to work with. He doesn't have to decide on signings or have his scouting staff etc.. The club's directors/sporting director etc.. do that. He can recommend a signing to them, but that's only his role.

Coming into a different country, and a job where you have to decide more things and be the main man in a different management structure could go balls up pretty quickly. Even Villas Boas who was rated higher than him came to England and tried to change too much too quickly and faced troubles at Chelsea without backing.

He struggled at Chelsea because the players were utter c***s.

I'd rather take a risk on somebody who has basically just won the league for the second successive time despite having his best players sold from under him than a 'proven' manager like Mark Hughes or some Championship upstart like Mackay.

Yeah AVB wasnt given a chance at Chelsea, thats not to say he didnt utterly fail tho.

But on the other hand Jose came in and did the job straight away.

Hes certainly doing a good job at Spurs.

And lets face it, hes not AVB or Jose, so whos to say what job he would do, his domestic record is flawless, yeah hes been found wanting in Europe, but hes still a young coach learning the game.

You mean Jens Keller? No. We don't want him.

Hes not even an option anyway.

Bundesliga side Schalke are sticking with Jens Keller, extending the coach's contract until 2015. The decision comes after months of rumors surrounding the future of the club and its leadership.

When Keller took over on an interim basis for sacked Dutchman Huub Stevens on December 16, Schalke were in seventh place. Since then Keller has managed to guide the club that were plunging further and further from Champions League qualification to where they now sit, fourth in the table.

On Saturday the club announced that Keller, the former under-17 coach, would be staying on with a two-year deal.

this. And comparing AVB and Jose at CFC is pointless, they came in with the club at different stages of development

Phew. Could turn out to be good in the long term but has been far from convincing so far.
