I hope your faith is correct. But I'm just reminded how the likes of Paul Jewell and Steve Bruce placed their Wigan sides better in the league than Martinez ever managed.

You really don't count getting his side relegated with one game to spare as not a thought-out reason against him?

You've got to remember the different types of squads the likes of Jewell and bruce had compared to Martinez though!. Here's a list of some of the players Jewell had at his disposal - Chimbonda, Ellington, J. Roberts, D. Thompson, Bullard, Baines, de Zeeuw, one time Everton play M. Jackson, L. McCulloch, Henchoz, Kirkland, Heskey, Landzaat & Valencia!.

Bruce had most of them and the likes of Melchiot, Bramble, Palacios, Cattermole, Zaki & N'Zogbia!.

Alot of them players were either ageing or sold for decent fees and not replaced with anything near the same amount of quality when Martnez took over, he had to reduce the wage bill and lose some good players for good fees and not see all the money.

If you look at the players what Jewell and Bruce had, no wonder they did better!. And Martinez keeping Wigan up as long as he did and playing the way they did was nothing short of brilliant cos lets face it, the Wigan team now is half full of championship standard footballers!.

And so what if he's got Wigan relegated, there's some top managers around the world that havent done so well with certain clubs! Take Klopp for instance, relegated with Mainz but as took Dortmund to a new level and made them one of the best sides in world football!.

Look at Wenger, he didnt have the best of CV's before coming to Engalnd and was managing in Japan before Arsenal took a punt on him!. In his first managerial job he did **** with Nancy and even got them relegated eventually, before moving to Monaco and being a success.

And im not saying Brenda is a top manager but he went to Watford and did nothing, left them for Reading and got sacked but went to Swansea which suited him due to the style of there play, what had been put in place and coached into them by a certain Martinez and he did well there, leading him to become the shtie manager!.

Martinez under the circumstances as not done too bad at Wigan for keeping them up as long as he did, but compared to his Swansea days, you could say he's done crap cos he did well at Swansea!. He got them playing well and defensively they was sound aswell, but at Wigan he's had average defenders which will lead to conceeding goals!.

People need to be given a chance and not be wrote off due to them having a bad time of it at one club. It'll be a massive learning curve for him will that at Wigan and im sure that with better players and a better set up, he'll work wonders, especially with the right men around him, which we seem to have at the club!.

IF it's Martinez that gets the job, then i'll definitely back him and wont be too displeased with his appointment thats for sure!.

As someone said, i think its nailed on to be Martinez with Neville to be his assistant. Its also nailed on that we will be in the boftom half of the table. If there is to be any 'progression' from the Moyes era, it will need a change in the boardroom to facilitate it, not the dressing room.
Which one will we be grooming to take over Moyes

For what it's worth, there's a rumour going around that Phil Neville has also had an interview for the vacant Doncaster Rovers managers job, Doncaster just promoted to the Championship.

Be a good job for him IMO. They've just gone up and will have the smallest budget in the league and the requiremnt will be to stay in the league, they wont be expected to do well so if he can go in there and keep them up and around mid table, it'll be a job well done for him and a win win scenario on his CV!.

I agree. On this manager situation I can happily join the anti-board/anti-Kenwright mob. Moyes is/was the figurehead of a business with a what £75/£80m turnover. By far and away he is/was the most important person at the club. To let him run down the contract like he did was a joke. To keep him on after he signed for United was a joke and to not have a ready list of successors is a joke.

It's as if the board itself didn't understand the true importance of Moyes. It doesn't look like they've identified a suitable replacement when they should have had a contingency plan in place had Moyes left at the end of the season. I can't blame him for going to Man U, whatever the circumstances really.

Anyway, whoever comes in will get my full support, and I hope the majority of Everton fans will do the same, otherwise whoever it is will have no chance.

Will people stop comparing Martinez to Klopp; Klopp get Mainz promoted and finished in the UEFA Cup positions, then they got relegated; he also had a 40% win ratio as well as a +63 goal difference in the 270 games he was in charge. Theres the big difference

They will get that support no doubt about it in my book. That's why some of the belters on here saying they'd jib their season tickets if X, Y or Z took over are just being over the top. I'd say anyone apart from Benitez would get 99% support from the off.

Worst indeed.

When was the last time any manager gave up being the boss at their own club to be second fiddle to someone else at another club?

As opposed to Martinez's beautiful sub 25 % win rate and -150 aggregate goal difference.

How people can even begin to welcome this as a potential appointment is literally beyond me

I first became impressed with Martinez last season. They were needing to win in their last few games and nobody have them a prayer as they had to play the top 4 home and away. Which they promptly did and tonked the lot of them, not by fouling one nils and holding on for grim death but by battering these 'top' sides. I saw it again on Saturday, they effing murdered city.

But don't forget lad that Martinez has a squad so so bad, full of part time pub players that would struggle to stay up in the conference south. He's done an incredible job keeping them up for so long..

I haven't seen a single good reason to support Martinez to be honest.

Other than:

He plays reasonably attractively football

He's avoided relegation for a few years

He possibly jibbed the RS

His team walloped us in 15 mad minutes in the quarter final

He won the FA Cup in the season he got relegated

It's not exactly a compelling CV
