I haven't seen a single good reason to support Martinez to be honest.

Other than:

He plays reasonably attractively football

He's avoided relegation for a few years

He possibly jibbed the RS

His team walloped us in 15 mad minutes in the quarter final

He won the FA Cup in the season he got relegated

It's not exactly a compelling CV
Lets remember the fella only 39, still very young just like when Moyes joined us but with more experience.

Any manager is a risk to be honest, it who you prefer the club to be managed by. Some fans want a Moyes clone, some want a manager who cant speak English, someone want a ex rs manager, someone want an ex everton legend. Cant see Martinez taking us down but I prefer this manager to most linked managers.

My worry with Martinez is that his main strength seems to be the style of play of his teams. I'd say about eight out of ten Spanish coaches would make their teams play the same way, it's just how the Spanish like to play the game. Then because we're so used to percentage football in England, when we see teams play like that in the Premier League it seems different and clever and exciting. In reality though you could get any of the decent managers from Spain over here and the result would be the same. How well they'd fare results wise would depend on how good they are at actually managing, signing players, motivating them etc., and Martinez hasn't been particularly great at that.

...I think this says it all really. Martinez will do me but whoever we get has a risk attached.

How about we push the boat out Bill and go for Guus Hiddink? Out of contract I think this summer, with Neville as his assistant and Cahill back on the coaching staff (reunite them from the Australia days). 0.5% chance of this happening I know, but would absolutely love it if it did!

Martinez can lower the risks compared to other managers such as Premiership experience, can handle the media and pressure, classy guy, can work on a low budget, all these attributes lower the risk then someone who never worked in these league. Southampton took a massive risk on their new manager who couldn't even speak English.

Just a question maybe someone can answer if Martinez is the man and as some posts suggest Neville as his right hand man will Martinez not want to choose his own people instead of been dicated to by kenwright...

Will people stop comparing Martinez to Klopp; Klopp get Mainz promoted and finished in the UEFA Cup positions, then they got relegated; he also had a 40% win ratio as well as a +63 goal difference in the 270 games he was in charge. Theres the big difference

Mainz were nowhere near UEFA-positions. They qualified via Fair Play.

Well I hope whoever comes in will be his own man, The same will apply to Moyes who will want to be his own man and not ferg.ie puppet

I first became impressed with Martinez last season. They were needing to win in their last few games and nobody have them a prayer as they had to play the top 4 home and away. Which they promptly did and tonked the lot of them, not by fouling one nils and holding on for grim death but by battering these 'top' sides. I saw it again on Saturday, they effing murdered city.

And then, you decided not to look at a few games in isolation, but rather his Wigan career as a whole, and realised he'd managed to serve up dismal results for five straight seasons.

People keep lauding Martinez but if they had beaten Swansea at home two weeks ago they'd likely have been ok this season - but instead they conceded 3 goals to a side whose season finished in February / march.

And murdered city.... 1-0.... Against a club in near mutiny...

We are deep in it if bill is daft enough to appoint Martinez
