Moyes sacked by United

SAF: is it beyond all possibilities he could come back? I dont think so. Unlikely maybe. But if he did I could see that squad busting a gut to get a CL place next season.

Perhaps if they needed someone to keep shop until someone else became available. Someone special perhaps.

like him, loathe him or downright fancy him, when he's not doing his best impression of Will Self, Russell Brand has got a special way with words:

Ferguson's selection of the "chosen one" now looks less like John the Baptist heralding Christ and more like what I would do if invited to select my ex's next partner; the mendacious dispatch of a castrated chump to grimly jiggle with futile pumps upon Man United's bone-dry, trophy-bare mound. Moyes, a name that, let's face it, sounds like a Yiddish word for eunuch, has endured 317 days of celibacy, whilst at Everton his former paramour, under the beguiling matador Martínez, is likely to claim the final Champions League place.

I could see this appealing to Ferguson. He's obviously aware his stock has fallen a bit for insisting on Moyes as his successor. What better way to get that stock back up to record levels again than to jump back in and get this 'outdated squad' (something he'd have hated hearing) back into the frame again?

Scholes taking training at Carrington today with Giggs, Butt and Neville. Scholes return a mere day after Moyes removal gives the clearest indication yet that this was a class of 92 orchestrated coup, with the Glazers merely doing their bidding.
that would be the utlimate insult. Phil fn Neville, a man that Moyes basically extended his career by about..what, a decade....stabs Moyes in the back to lose his job. Like Julius Ceasar that.

Part of me thinks Whiskey Nose appointed Moyes to further enhance his legacy. Let's face it, succeeding Ferguson was going to be a Herculean task for anyone and Ferguson made sure his aura got polished by appointing a man he knew deep down was simply not going to be up to the task. And he's not going to risk tarnishing that halo by going back, just in case things don't get better. Think Kendall II and III.

I have no particular antagonism towards Moyes, no really axe to grind, he steadied the ship. But this bit in his statement made me laugh, "I have always believed that a manager never stops learning during his career". Sorry Davey you stopped learning your trade about 4 years ago. How many games when we needed to, we failed to keep hold of the ball. We were so static, no passing and moving, no going for it, keeping players back to protect the defence. Our goal at Old Trafford perfectly summed it up for me and showed the difference between a manger that is not overawed by teams or occasions because he has confidence in his players. We had 8 players in and around the box with 5 minutes to go and drawing 0-0. That would never have happened under Moyes we would have protected what we had.

I do feel a bit sorry for Moyes, he was out of his depth in the Manu job and he has been found out big time. In his own immortal words, the 'grass isn't always greener'. He will get another job, at a club like Villa or Sunderland, but whether he has the ability to achieve anything at his next club other than keeping them in the Premier League, will depend on how much he is prepared to go back and learn his trade.

I think he genuinely believed Moyes was the right man. Now he's been proven wrong he's slightly tarnished his legacy. He has an ego the size of a planet. It wouldn't surprise me if the 'lads of 92' went petitioning their old gaffer to come back for a swansong. I doubt it will happen, but IMO, it would work. He'd still ahve the feel for this league and those players he left behind.

Ferguson will not manage United again. Non starter.
Unlikely. But, as just stated, it would work to the degree that United would get a massive bounce and back in the mix again. It's not a matter of not being up to the task.

Ferguson could become the Director of Football, an overseer for Giggs and Scholes, a continental style set up. Ferguson's reputation has taken a hammering with the Moyes appointment and may want to step in to steady the ship.

Big softie that I am, I feel very sorry for Moyes.

I know he upset a lot of people with his stupid comments while he was not even out the door, but he did well for the club and I don't think we should just dismiss that record in a fit of gleeful spite.

It must be pretty awful for him now.

There you go. You can all take the piss now if you like.
