I have no particular antagonism towards Moyes, no really axe to grind, he steadied the ship. But this bit in his statement made me laugh, "I have always believed that a manager never stops learning during his career". Sorry Davey you stopped learning your trade about 4 years ago. How many games when we needed to, we failed to keep hold of the ball. We were so static, no passing and moving, no going for it, keeping players back to protect the defence. Our goal at Old Trafford perfectly summed it up for me and showed the difference between a manger that is not overawed by teams or occasions because he has confidence in his players. We had 8 players in and around the box with 5 minutes to go and drawing 0-0. That would never have happened under Moyes we would have protected what we had.
I do feel a bit sorry for Moyes, he was out of his depth in the Manu job and he has been found out big time. In his own immortal words, the 'grass isn't always greener'. He will get another job, at a club like Villa or Sunderland, but whether he has the ability to achieve anything at his next club other than keeping them in the Premier League, will depend on how much he is prepared to go back and learn his trade.
