Moyes sacked by United

My point was he will never be picked to permanently manage one of the biggest clubs in the world again. I stand by that assertion.

He failed on the largest stage with his first 'big' club. Mourinho is bullet proof. Mancini won a league title. Giggs is interim, Sherwood is never going to end up managing one of the big clubs. It doesn't matter whether he could be successful, it matters that no global club will give him the chance unless they fall mightily.

Can you imagine Bayern, Real, Chelsea, or Barca going in for Moyes? Ever?

Also, I was making a lighthearted joke about how Everton will be top of the league shortly, and we would never bring back a manager 'proven' to be incapable at that level. That in 5-10 years someone will say: Could you imagine Bayern, Real, Chelsea, Everton, or Barca going in for X? Ever?

If only I was more clever, I would have caught all of that

I am hoping Newcastle can pull something out of the bag on Monday.

Pardew has been sat with his feet up for the past month, eating Mars bars and laughing at his own temper tantrums. Now Moyes is available, and just the sort of manager to appeal to Ashley, Pardew's position is really under scrutiny.

Fingers crossed he has remembered how to prepare a football team for a match, the run they are on cannot continue forever.

I think Van Gaal wiuld be a bad move for Man U, he is 62 years old! They should be looking for some one with less years on the clock and a bit of pedigree who arguably could remain there for a good long tome.

I don't like all this player power stuff but still makes me laugh that one of them shouted 'Send him off' when Moyesie was arguing with the 4th official in Greece.

If nothing else, this has shown up Man Utd, its management, players and fans. Non have behaved well......

None? Match going fans have been nothing but supportive of him and have been patient. Right to the end, you would hear them chant his name. Sure the chanting of his name was less heard during the weeks leading up to his sacking, but there was never any outright booing of him.

The ones who should be ashamed are the ones who planned for that fly over at OT.

Majority of other club's fans would have hounded him out as early as Jan. So in that regard, I think United fans were fair to Moyes, given the circumstances of how our season developed.[/QUOTE]

More whinging, going on about how Moyes went from 'managing a yacht (Everton) to managing a cruise liner (Man Utd)'.

The hilarious thing is they actually buy into this myth that Utd are so much bigger than Everton. All they are is a bit richer and had success at the right time. Now they're finding out what football is truly like. They think it's all going to magically change now Moyes is gone... they're going to be in for a rude awakening.

Given that Meulensteen could not handle the comparative rubber duck that Fulham is, I think he should perhaps steer clear of the boating analogies.

What??

They are the 4th biggest club in the world behind Madrid/Munich/Barca

They are the most successful club in this country

They have a ground we can only dream of

But apart from that there not that much bigger than us

This is very true, but Moyes didn't manage the ground, nor the commercials, nor most of the PR. He managed the training and preparation of a football team exactly as he had done at Everton. So this Yacht/Liner crap is just that. It's not even as if the players he had were world class, most of them would not get into the current Everton side. They, the media, the management and the fans are truly smoking something if they really believe that putting out a side for Everton, Liverpool, Spurs etc is any different to putting one out for Utd.............
