Moyes to Sunderland

How long can Short take it before sacking Moyes off?

Surely to have any chance they need to get rid now with some decent games upcoming and try and get a few points off a new manager bounce?

They actually arnt playing badly, just have no goals other than Defoe in them, and an horrendous injury list of players. Short didnt sanction any spending, and in the longer term, keeping Moyes if/when they go down might be a decent longer term plan.

That said, they have been the pits for more than this season, and just looked doomed after years of mismanagement, and more than a fair share of crappy luck.

Others have rescued them in the past under similar circumstances. And Moyes is the last person in the world I'd hand a Championship club to. He never got PNE up and if he cant make a fist of it with the English champions he's going to struggle with some outfit like Sunderland in the Championship.

I think if Sunderland have any sense they'll look at the fixtures to come and think: get him out now and get a new man in for the last 11 games or so and see if we can get the job done again.

Thing is, thats been their MO for years. Hire, not back, fire. Rinse and repeat. They got a crappy break with Sam being nicked by the FA, but other than that, the circle just repeats itself.

Advocaat walked when, after pulling off yet another escape, Short wouldnt back him. Long term, a drop, a rebuild, root and branch, might be a better route than clinging on every single season. And Moyes has a decent record of doing that, albeit, with Everton, more than a decade ago.

..with Everton in the PL with a sell to buy policy at least. Moyes woud struggle badly getting his head around the fact that if he slipped up in his first few months down there and never had them top 3/4 he;d be given the bullet. Their fans will be in no mood for Moyes if he hands them something they've avoided for the past 4/5 seasons.

They'd do better getting that Rowett in now and tell him he has the job if he gets them to safety.

Serious question, if Sunderland sack Moyes who do they replace him with? It seems to me they've been runnng the risk of relegation for years now and it was inevitable that it would eventually happen. Repeated sackings and a total lack of continuity has obviously damaged them, I mean how are you supposed to build a long-term successful team if you have a different manager every 6-8 months? Maybe Moyes isn't the right man for the Sunderland job but I honestly can't think of a better manager available at this moment.

We have 5 home games and we need to win 4 of them

Burnley
West ham
Bournemouth
Swansea

And pick up something away v boro, Leicester and watford.

Too much to do for me and this year I think we've gone.

The good news for you is we have a worse run in; Home is not too bad; Watford, Arsenal, Tottenham, Burnley,Leicester and Hull.
Away is horrible; Chelsea, RS, Southampton, and finish with the Manc pair. Like you, reliant on home points and the odd surprise.

Shame.

In an ideal world

Sunderland, Boro and Hull would stay up and Bournemouth, Swansea and Palace would go.
I think Sunderland are gonners, Boro if they have some Leicester-esque revival, could survive... but they're just a sinking ship. As for Hull? Who knows... they're not actually playing badly at all.

I tell you what, it just shows how assiduously Moyes developed his media contacts over his time at Everton when there's almost no chatter about how he should be sacked given his disastrous appointment at Sunderland. FFS he should be getting hounded out. They are rock bottom and almost surely gone to the Championship but the old boys network ginger has built up are still giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Sunderland supporters need to be getting demos together to kick this divvy out or they have zero chance left.

Reckon that squad is better than anyone else's in the league? Defoe, maybe Pickford then the rest are absolutely toilet.
